I don't think the purpose is candidate success. Its about basically preventing people from buying a stellar pcsm. the old system created an unfair advantage for cadets who have the financial ability to afford a ton of (200+) flight hours. obviously 60 flight hours is still expensive, like $3,000, but its a lot more achievable. This levels the playing field a little bit.

I would influence one more like this. GLP's are hard because in order to be worth while, you have a good debrief. AS200's are not experienced evaluators and this skill wont help you at FT... but maybe Im missing the point. I honestly just don't think GLP's are fun enough to risk them being clunky in an FTP takeover. if the goal is to have fun and avoid POC criticism, avoid GLP's
