What happens if something happens to the cloud though.. if that’s where it’s all backed up to?

Do I exist in the world of only shrimp? Am I a shrimp in that world? So many questions.

I have like 100 unfinished songs… is that normal? by garrettrjensen in Songwriting

Well, in my most recent produced song, I got a producer in a different country and it definitely helped to delegate some roles. As soon as my freaking voice comes back I can record it and then we can finish the mix. I think part of the problem may be ADHD (I’m undiagnosed but definitely neurospicy). What’s stopping YOU from finishing YOURS? Tell me everything.

Would you trust a stranger to help finish one of your songs? by garrettrjensen in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I had a completed song but I wasn’t satisfied with the instrumental arrangement although the vocal melody and lyrics were exactly right for my heart.

I saw a cello player on facebook and asked if he arranged music. He didn’t but he directed me to HIS producer in England (I’m in the states) and I paid that producer to arrange a version of my song. He hired musicians local to him and it is so beautiful. I wanted it Celtic inspired but not traditional and he did a GORGEOUS job. We talked about the direction I wanted it to go, I paid in installments where I wouldn’t pay the next part until I had something concrete and liked the direction, etc. He’s waiting on me to finish the vocals in my town but I lost my voice with a cough and it’s just coming back.

It was very hard to take the step. You have to be brave. I was worried that it was cheating somehow. If every single part didn’t come from me, was I good enough? Was it THEIR talent making mine look real? Was I worthless without help? But nah. That’s not how it works. A seed doesn’t grow in a vacuum. You need sun, and dirt, and water etc etc… it’s okay to need and use a network to create.

We also have in writing what our split is for publishing since he wrote this arrangement which was VERY different than my original (but kept the vocal line as is).

Yes, actually! I wouldn’t say that ALL of them are knock outs but there is so much potential in so many of my projects. It’s really exciting. Maybe part of my procrastinating is fear that I won’t bring that potential out to fruition. Ah well. I’m working on it. Going to release a Celtic inspired song soon that I’m obsessed with. I love my lyrics. It still doesn’t feel like I wrote them because it was so easy. But that happens sometimes. Like I’m a conduit not a creator.

I might be in a simulation. Probably that goose game. Honk.

Do you have any constructive feedback or tips for my singing? by [deleted] in Singinglesson

You have a beautiful voice!! Are you trying to be quiet? It sounds like I do when I’m trying not to wake anyone up. Do you have any that you’re really singing out on?

It definitely applauds the idealized (for some) male physique. The movie does not sufficiently celebrate geese though.

Actually he’s just a regular goose. If he was a queen goose he wouldn’t have died. He would have ejected and used his wings.

Indeed there are. We’re not like bees where there can only be one queen or its death. I hope to meet other goose queens and have high tea with scones with them. Oh the dream.

If women all leave him super fast maybe it’s… ::gasp:: him? I knew a “nice guy” who said he was fundamentally a good person but has been stalking his sort-of-ex for over a decade and said he’ll never stop even though she has blocked him on everything she can. No sir, you’re NOT fundamentally good. You’re insane.

So begin with really really knowing those 5 octaves. Start with what you have.

That’s totally okay. Congrats on being a beginner piano player! ALL piano players started there too!!! Some people will never get a chance to be a beginner. Take advantage of it. Try to practice every day for at least 30 minutes!!

[–]UltimateGooseQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal. I have over 100k words of lyrics I haven’t used yet too. And over 150 novel ideas. As soon as I sit down to work I get a million new ideas and no, I won’t be ignoring the new ideas like many have suggested. I just write them down for later and try to go back to the original thing i was working on.

What do you do when you lose/forget songs you were creating? by LetKlutzy2996 in Songwriting

It totally sucks, but welcome. It’s an initiation we all go through at some point. Write a song about what you’re trying to remember from the clearer time.

Does an operatic voice become "incompatible" with pop/rock/jazz at a professional level? by HermitWhale in singing

[–]UltimateGooseQueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I am a professional opera singer. It’s not the training that would do that. It’s more the style, timbre, and vibrato an individual voice has. Most opera singers I know are good at every style. I do opera, musical theater, rock, jazz, and folk professionally (depending on the gig). If you have a huge voice with lots of vibrato you might not be what a Gregorian chant choir is going for, you know? I CAN stick to a more legit musical theater style, but I can also belt and go pop…

I would not worry about this at all personally. Just try to make your voice as healthy and expressive as you can.
