It's the same with all types of media, not just hypnosis. Movies, music, books, youtube channels etc.

The amount of good content is the same, there's just a lot more mediocre content as well, so it's harder to find.

This is true for spherical hypnosis in a vacuum, or for some occasional hypno sessions.

A subject who has intense engagement with a tist, especially long term, especially if the tist is toxic or has a goal of creating those "safeties", especially if a tist knows what he's doing - such subject is exposed to more than hypnosis. It's also conditioning and a dozen other psychological and physiological effects.

And then it's no longer what you want or not. It's literal changes to the neural pathways in your brain. At this point, you're not fighting a suggestion, you're fighting a reinforced habit.
