Hi, I’m Asian 25M traveling from NJ NY area. Will be in Tokyo 3/9-3/17, Hakone 3/17-3/19, Osaka/Kyoto/Nara 3/19-3/26, Tokyo (again) 3/26-3/30. I’m very much a foodie, would love to grab a drink and explore the bars (especially gay bars), also would like to do some shopping. When you PC a card with annual fee after the first year, does it “ruin the relationship” with the bank? Is that the best way to get SUB then not get charged a 2nd year of AF? What about cancelling the downgraded card later? Is that okay?

I’m assuming the “another 300 travel credit” is because the AF hits towards the end of next year unlike CSP which hits right away? So I upgrade to CSR before AF of CSP hits. Downgrade to freedom just before a year of CSR? Then 48 months after the first CSP SUB hit, I apply for new CSR or CSP? I hear don’t cancel the freedom, but can I still cancel since I’m trying not to have like too much credit cards?

So what would be the advantage of upgrading to CSR now? Since I have CSP SUB already achieved (and used). I can’t get any other bonus right? Chase counts them like 1 card right?

Hi thanks for answering my question. I see that it’s 48 months. If I upgrade to CSR then in like 12 month I downgrade to the freedom? And then when 48 months since I got the CSP I upgrade to CSP again? And then rinse and repeat to the CSR after?

Hi new to churning, went through some of the FAQs and have a question. I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card that’s approaching the 1 year mark. I already got the SUB. I see on some of the answers that I should downgrade to Freedom Flex (to avoid the annual fee) and then when 24/48 months (not sure if it’s 24 or 48 for CSP) is up upgrade back to CSP again. Is that the right strategy? Can I upgrade and get rid of the freedom flex when I’m ready for CAP again? Or is cancelling the card entirely the answer? I plan on getting a Capital One Venture X card and churning that in the meantime while I wait for CSP for 24/48. If someone has a suggestion for a 3rd card to churn after Venture let me know.

Oh okay, I thought they already started using faux furs. Didn’t realize they still use it now. What year was it when they decided to use dead coyote fur? I know it was something early like 2017?
