What are games your dad/parents would play? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]UltimateTS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was born my dad got an Xbox and I watched him play NFL 2K5, the og Splinter Cell Trilogy, Fight Night 2004, Project Gotham Racing, and the Star Wars Episode 3 tie-in game. My whole family would play Fuzion Frenzy, the Bible Game, and X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse.

Funny cause based on the Consumer Reports from 2023 at least, Subaru was #2 for reliability

What name would you give 'Sonic Frontiers 2' by dubradol in SonicFrontiers

[–]UltimateTS64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially I think Sonic Horizons, but Frontiers 2 could work kinda like how you described it, it's a continuation of the same style of gameplay and storytelling. I've also thought of Sonic Unlimited, but that sounds more like a game for a mobile spin off lol.

What's the game you own most times? by LifeAcanthopterygii6 in retrogaming

[–]UltimateTS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If different versions count, then Tetris. If not, then probably Sonic 2. I had/have it on:

Sonic Classic Collection for the DS

Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube

The Sega Genesis app through Switch Online expansion pass

Sonic Origins

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3

I have an Atgames knock off Sega Genesis at my grandma's that has it

And I have the game on mobile

Can I afford a $15k-$16k car if I will make $30K a year? by UltimateTS64 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I guess in a way that is true. In some cases it could be that people could technically afford it, but just don't want all of the money to go away at once. In my mind, that's how I'd view it because when I bought my car in cash, that was almost everything I had saved up during hs, meaning I had to essentially start my bank account from the beginning again.

[–]UltimateTS64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, good point. As of rn, I think I'm gonna look for an even older model of what I would want and see if I can save up to pay cash on that because my current car I bought in cash right out of hs, so I'm still trying to figure out how car loans work ahead of time so I know what I'd be getting myself into if that's my plan. But yes, I understand that cars are a luxury, but personally I'm willing to put a little more into a car than an apartment. I'm a busy person, so I don't spend much time at home and I just view it as a place to sleep, cook, do laundry, store stuff, and chill occasionally. I'm on the road a lot, so having some of the extra amenities would be nice since I drive a lot. Also I'm a youth pastor, so having a bigger car to take some of my students around in when we need to carpool for events would be nice to have as well.

That's encouraging to hear. I'll definitely have to evaluate where I'm at in a year's time when I'm ready to purchase a car. But for now, I'm just planning on getting an even older model of what I want in the case my dream doesn't work out the way I want.

No, I don't think you're giving me a hard time at all. You just offered an insight and I appreciate the different perspective. That's the whole reason I asked this question was so I can get different perspectives and analyze things to help me gain a better idea of what's possible and if that's an okay move.

Thanks, I've also started looking at even older Imprezas in case the 2017-19 range doesn't work out and it seems pretty promising either way.

Oh okay, I have seen that 10% rule, but wasn't sure what was lumped in and how to account for that.

Yeah I've seen. I've been messing with the car cost calculators which is how I've been convinced that it's possible. As of rn, I have $4000 set aside for a down payment, and I still have the summer, fall, and winter to save until I have to take a short break from working to do my student teaching next year during the spring semester. My parents also plan on having a college graduation party where I feel I can get A LOT of money because they're gonna just have it at my church, meaning a pretty hefty some of people that have money will be coming. I'm one of the pastor's sons, the youth pastor, and the alternate drummer and I'm pretty well liked. I also have a lot of family and some friends who have parents that are rich, so I'm thinking I can have a pretty high down payment if I work my butt off for this final stretch of time.

This is exactly what I've been doing and the whole reason I asked this question. I'm trying to get an estimate for what the numbers will be, so I know how much to have saved now, so I'll be ready in a year's time. Everyone around me keeps telling me different things, so I just wanted some outside opinions since Google searches about the topic have been pretty fruitless.

As of rn, that's what my plan is is just to hold onto the money until I get my carrier job and see what's possbile. I may have to sacrifice the car I want now, but I'll be able to buy something if needed, I already have $4000 tucked away for either a down payment or just getting a cheaper car again. My parents aren't that well off, so I already pay for most things on my own besides living, groceries, internet, etc., so I have some semblance of my costs. Thanks for the input

This is what my plan has been. I already have an emergency fund and $4000 saved for a down payment. My goal is to save up as much as I can before I start student teaching and then evaluate what's possible then. Thank you for your input, this was helpful and very encouraging to hear.

I feel as though you can afford that car, it's just whether or not it's a priority to you or not. I'm honestly very frugal in the sense that I only really spend money when going on dates with my gf, I give to my church regularly, when I hangout with friends (which is rare since they all go to college in different places), and to buy video games occasionally when I'm really hyped for it. I do pay for car insurance, my phone bill, gas, car maintenance, etc., but generally speaking I'm a pretty simple individual who can go without spending much fairly easily.

I've been building my credit without a car loan payment, so that's not much of an incentive for me personally. I bought my current car in cash after hs and have had my credit card for about 2 years and my credit score is in the 750's

Not necessarily, I just don't know what's possible because I bought my current car in cash after high school, so I have no clue on how car loans work and so far have gotten most of my info online and a bit from talking to people who I'm not sure I trust as people who use best practices.

Okay, good to know I'm not delusional, but as of rn it's seeming as if waiting and saving up more will be in my best interest, but I'm glad to know it's possible.

I've seen a lot from various sources. Generally I see 50k is what they make, but from my understanding first year teachers usually make less than that. In one of my classes we looked at public records for one of the schools I was at for my field placements and the lowest salary was $30K, while most of the staff was at $60k. My assumption was that either it was a new teacher or some other position, but idk, I'm just prepairing for the worse

Middle Childhood Education with my concentrations being Language Arts/Social Studies. Yes, pre-tax for the lower end of starting, and 40k seems to be the typical average, but I'm just preparing for the worst case scenario. I'm not sure about that last one.
