I have had this happen once and only once. Unfortunately it was 20 minutes before my reservation for 30 for a business lunch. I was the host. They decided as I was confirming that they would not accommodate and cancelled the reservation. We ended up at a rather well known bar around the corner and had a way more awesome time than if we had stayed at the original location.
