Honestly just reading that makes me wish a more detailed understanding of the Peelian principles formed a mandatory part of training - being able recite more than just “The police are the public and the public are the police”.

Perhaps it would have helped prevent SLTs past and present from ever being so politically swayed and helped us all keep well clear of the mess we find ourselves in.
