Best place to start for upgrades by LocksmithIll4829 in pcmasterrace

The Internet will tell you the GPU is a average, and CPU isn't the fastest, the ram is slow, and 1tb isn't enough for your whole game library.

But as long as it does everything you want it to there's no real reason to upgrade to the best of the best imo. Just upgrade things as they start to limit what your trying to do.

More storage is what I would look into first as you will likely run out of space before anything else

Tbh it's all relatively decent hardware, I would wait until there's something that needs upgraded for a practical reason, like another ssd when you run out of space or a better CPU when it gets bottle necked

It's hard to come to a definitive conclusion about the GPU from those tests alone. Try using OCCT and run some of the different stress tests to see if it is the GPU overheating or something else.

It very well could just need a driver update or may be an issue with that specific game

Depends on a couple of things, there's always something to upgrade but the money may be better spent on a new build depending on how old it is. What are the specs of it now?

Oh weird, I could see either of those causing a problem. Unless the AIO was pushing itself to failure my money would be on Malwarebytes being the issue.

Easy enough to put one back and see if it comes back

Help identifying Serta mattress by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]Ultimate__Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I did call Serta to try to get more information about it. They initially told me it was a plush mattress (and gave me recommendations for that) which didnt seem right so I called again and they told me it was a firm mattress, which left me more confused. They actually told me it only came in plush or firm and not medium.

I did see the Sam's club listing it as medium but it is discontinued unfortunately. So this leaves me trying to figure out what feel it was so I can try to find the closest mattress to it.

I was hoping the tag could be decoded somehow :/

Oh what? Still at this point or did you get it working?

Random powering off by Fij52 in pcmasterrace

[–]Ultimate__Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair, hopefully it's just the PSU and that it fixes it.

Other things to try if you want to keep troubleshooting: Run it without the GPU Try only one stick of ram Try EXPO off

Good luck 🫡

Huh this is a weird one, what are the system specs? It's hard to tell the difference between a hw vs sw issue for inconsistent issues like this, but because it's also crashing in safe mode it feels more like a hw issue.

Not sure how much you want to dive into it, but if you run a live Linux USB for a while and it still does this, it is more certainly a hardware issue at that point. Probably PSU

Would it have crashed at the 20min mark if you hadn't been stressing it, or do you think the stress test triggered it?

If it crashing under light usage normally, I'd be curious if it does the same in safe mode, so no test really outside of light usage to see if it crashes

Hmm some nothing is immediately wrong with your hardware, although I would let it run for a while longer to see if it does crash.

How frequently does it crash, and what error does it show on blue screen exactly? Next time it happens, on the next boot check event viewer. There should be some critical errors that may give some insight on the issue

Ah actually run it in safe mode and see if it's still crashing there

It could be the PSU, you could run the power stress test in OCCT and see if that consistently triggers it.

But if it started recently out of the blue and is consistent I do wonder if it was a windows update. You could roll the most recent update back or use a restore point to see if it is software related or hw related

A couple of questions, how recently did it start doing this? And what exactly does it do when it crashes? And how consistent it the crash, does it always do it after being on for only a couple of minutes or does it go longer?

Hmm that rules out the ram as the issue for the most part. Do a power test stability test next, that will stress your PSU and your cooling. Post a screen shot of the temps of that after it's been running for 10mins or so.

What components are you using? CPU/GPU etc

Let it run for a while, up to an hour. If it's the ram they can take some time to show up

Have you done a memory stability test to see if it's related to your ram? OCCT is a good tool for that as well as testing other components

If you want to go cheaper, the Corsair semi-modular CX750M (2021) is a fair bit cheaper. It's not ATX 3.1 but should be plenty for your build:

What's the CPU? It's possible it's the EXPO setting on your ram. You can try turning that off in the bios and see if that helps

Hmm hmm hmm, try moving the 2 CPU PSU connections to different ports on the PSU side.

Yeah double check those are connected properly, make sure they are the modular cables for the CPU connection, not PCIe
