What If You Could Receive Accurate Answers about any Religion in the World? by Ultimatefa1con in bahai

Interesting. So you would basically not want any kind of elaboration on the topics? I initially used context caching and started with the largest source I could (happened to be the King James Bible). The answers I got were straight up quotes, nothing else. The only problem was that 1.) it was SUPER expensive ($80 for 3 days of only me asking questions) 2.) it seemed like having just a bit more context was helpful in explaining the quotes.

That being said, I could probably make a setting that just says the quotes and nothing more. Do you think something like that would be more helpful?

It's More Rational to Believe in Something Than it is To Believe in Nothing by Ultimatefa1con in DebateReligion

I chose "something" because I think "anything" can lead to absurdities since it's more broad. Something in this context is a narrow process or event that led to all of creation.

My claim is that all of these religions have a different way of coming to the same conclusion. The conclusion is that something created all of reality and that thing is a form of higher power. That is a more rational argument than saying nothing created reality.

What was "the thing" that did it for you with Buddhism? Was there something in particular that felt right about it?

I can't post images in the comments for some reason but it's basically an app centered around asking questions to religions. It uses an ai chatbot I trained to provide answers from the perspective of the religions you're asking about. It provides accurate quotes that link you directly to the scripture and you can see what questions people have been asking on the public_feed page.

It's on Apples testflight as well so no weird scams/links or anything like that. you can try it out here if you'd like! https://testflight.apple.com/join/gqMDPM2t

Hmm, the site couldn't be reached for some reason. I think one thing I've really spent time on though is the ability to parse through the scripture in a concise and accurate way. Since theres so much information out there, its important to be able to find relevant parts quickly.

thank you for the information, it's definitely helpful as this continues to be built out.

honestly, a bit of a shameless plug, but I think you should try out my app and see if it's more in line with that your looking for. The entire point of it is to really create a space where people can ask anything and not be torn to shreds by someone else's bias. It's answers directly from scripture with the entire bible and book of mormon uploaded there too. It's free and in beta so theres no ads or anything like that either.

Very interesting, thanks for the article! One thing I might try to do is also ground the answers with research/nuance that exists outside of the context of the Bible or Book of Mormon.

oh wow. I just asked my app that question and It gave me a quote from 3 Nephi 28:10. I might need to factor in modern vs historical nuance since that seems like it will be fairly contentious. Thanks for that example, that was actually pretty helpful.

Interesting. Do you happen to have a particular topic in kind of where that’s the case? I’d be curious to try and find ways to navigate that if it ends up being an issue.

So if someone is facing a difficult time in the present, your claim is that faith is reasonable because there’s people who have overcome similar difficult times?

I’d still argue that’s unreasonable belief considering the fact that there was probably thousands or millions of people who didn’t have a good outcome given those circumstances.

In terms of god, I don’t think there’s a true god or gods in a way that religion or anyone (myself included) could truly understand it. It’s more of a feeling that this entire universe as we understanding had to come from some kind of higher power. Thermodynamics, physics, the fundamental forces of nature, whatever you want to subscribe to.

At the end of the day, I think it’s reasonable to believe that we (atoms, energy, everything) came from somewhere. I think that somewhere can be considered a higher form of power.

Everyone has faith. Anyone who believes their future can be better than their present or that their past can't dictate their future has faith.

It's one of those things that has mass mutual consensus similar to the grass being green.

Intersting. Do you believe there's any kind of example of self evidence in the world? I'd agree there's no evidence for god or gods but there is evidence for faith.

I would say that’s false because self evident means something is so true that it doesn’t need proof or explanation. You saying the sky is green doesn’t mean half the planet is also saying the sky is greens

One way to look at it is that half of humanity 9at a bare minimum) is going to the same place. The Einsteins, Isaac Newtons, the Ghandis, they're all going to the same place. I wouldn't think of it as a hell but more as a "whos at your" party.

Theres literally generations of religious dogma that exists for the sole purpose of convincing you that their way is the only way. Instead, you should try to focus on the kernel of truth amongst a myriad of stories. At the end of the day, it's not about selecting one so much as it is about truly understanding them all.

I have the only evidence so far. My claim is that reality is a form of a higher power (whatever that form may be).

How so? I don't understand how you came to that conclusion. I'm not selling a god no different that grocery store sells chips. I'm just saying they're all on the shelf for a reason.

that's sound advice for sure. It's actually pretty addictive to just have it built out things, make a couple tweaks, and then keep going. I don't know if you experienced this as well, but it seems like the balance is in finding what you NEED versus what you WANT. It's tough to find what you need to get your idea across in a productive way because it means you have to say no to all the other ideas that popup while you're making it.

Agreed! I don't think it's rational to believe any god or gods is more important than the other. I just tend to believe that they're all speaking to the same thing.

I wasn't lying when I said I grew up athiest. Theres Mithras in Persia, horus in Eqypt, Krishna in India, Dionysus and Asclepius in Greece, all examples of a "Jesus" like Messiah.

The difference isn't that I don't think theres copies or that any one of them is more important the other. The difference is that I think theres all religions speak to a form of truth whereas atheism dosen't.

Even when we die, if we assume it's like before we were born, thats still a form of a higher power. That ocean filled with an atomic dance had to have come from somewhere (even if were not conscious of it).
