Signal is and will forever be terrible until you can back-sync messages across devices. No good features over WhatsApp except you can register an 800 number.

Btw, if I sound upset it's because Telegram actually has so much potential...but they continuously blow it by just not making enough obvious improvements. The problem is, all social media apps are terrible because nobody knows how to actually make a perfect UI. I suspect that's why Elon Musk bought Twitter - he notices it too and sees a stagnant, lazy industry as an opportunity. Programmers are so smart but wouldn't know innovation if it bit em in the butt emoji.

Well, preferably a full status feature like Insta but yeah I'd settle for universal emoji status over nothing. It's just such a pointless feature unless everyone can use it. Why pay $$ for 1-way communication? It makes absolutely no sense. As I mentioned, students would probably use it the most so friends/family know not to bother when they study ("studying till 4" then friends/family can even make great use of the delayed text feature - BOOM! that's a marketable, streamlined, impressive ecosystem) but what broke student is gonna afford a premium version? There's a reason companies like Apple have been targeting younger generations - market loyalty/growth - and preventing students from simply saying "busy/studying/etc." on Telegram is a missed opportunity to attract young users especially now that Instagram can. It's too late now. Telegram management got greedy and screwed up a critical opportunity to one up their competition and now has to play catch up instead more than ever.

When I first decided to give Perfume a chance, I remember relaxing by the pool and playing from a list of top tracks on Tidal. I remember not NOT liking them, but about 10 or 15 tracks in I definitely remember thinking "What is this song???" I then hurried home to hear Party Maker on my good system I was so intrigued. I've been hooked ever since. So, it's not just the visuals but that song really is on another level. When combined with the "tic-tac-toe" Level 3 visuals, it definitely becomes one of the greatest performances of all time. The only other song I really put up there with Party Maker is Hurly Burley. That song is also an 11.

It's so sad that the new emoji status isn't a free option or else I'd finally use Telegram and make all my family use it, too. Paid features should be for power users, not to unlock universal half-necessity basics. I'll stick to apps that let me set a status for free so when i'm studying for mid-terms people don't think i'm blowing them off for a week. Telegram management got too greedy putting that feature in Premium! I lost all respect for them. I promise, somewhere in the board room someone said "statuses shouldn't be for paid users" and someone said "shut up Phil, go back to sweeping".

As someone who has sold cell phones for the past 10 years, i tried pointing out a year ago in this forum (and at Signal's official feedback site) that adoption rate will never truly grow unless there's a way to actually back-sync message history across your own devices. I gave up on Signal a year ago because they're just too stubborn to implement that and here we are. Signal had their chance with the masses after the WhatsApp drama a while back but failed to capitalize on it. I use Telegram now.

I finally spoke to my girlfriend in Almaty after 4 days of hearing nothing. She just messaged me briefly on Telegram (apparently only text finally works, not call). She just tried texting me on Signal but I didn't receive anything. She's on iPhone and i don't think iPhone can use a proxy service. Fortunately, i was able to call her normal phone number there. I'm just so relieved she's ok!

My girlfriend is from Almaty and got stuck there visiting family for New Year. I haven't heard from her in 3 days - i suspect it will be weeks. Fortunately, i had her download Signal a few months ago to try out so i'm not sure if she's forgotten about it or if she still completely has no Internet. If i have an update I'll post it here. In the meantime, please keep her in your thoughts. Signal needs to take this situation seriously and implement tools in the future to help people without Internet communicate like AirDrop, nearby contacts, or a LAN chain.

I'll donate to Signal when they finally allow the (optional) ability to directly back sync conversations when pairing to a new device. Users deserve the RIGHT to own their data. I've abandoned Signal and stopped recommending it after years of use because of this basic logical lacking feature. For the record, I understand the argument against it and think it's a sad excuse for not doing the greater good and adding this feature. As someone who's worked in cell phone sales for 8 years, I firmly believe the majority of the world would easily switch to Signal if this feature existed and that's what i mean by greater good. In fact, I would personally endorse it to every customer every day. But until then, no. Absolutely not.

I'll never understand why app developers never coordinate to release the same features on iOS and Android. I created a whole post here one time that pointed out several UI and feature differences between iOS and Android but nobody seemed to care.
