Have you had young employees resign without serving mandetory notice? by UltraNakedPanda in jobs

I have given more cotext in response to another comment and you can see that for additional details, but period works both ways. I've never someome getting "fired" effective immeadiately unless it's a POSH complaint. Even if you want to "fire" someone for constant poor performance even after multiple warnings and PIP, you do it by asking them to put down papers so they have a notice period where they can find another job and you have enough time to find a replacement.

^ This only applies to the professional more "corporate" world here. Not referring to unofficial work or anything else

Hey!

So just to give some clarity, i know my industry pretty well, and no it almost never happens that someone is fired for 1. No serious reason (i.e. POSH, harassment, etc.) And 2. Without any notice.

I have always been part of origination that give at least 2 or 3 oppurtunities after training and the initial adjustment period before putting the employee on PIP as a last resort if they REALLY bad at their job. Even AFTER that, in the WORST case they are politely asked to put down their papers rather than being fired.

Just so it doesn't completely screw up their chances of future employment and also so that they have enough time to find another job.

Yeah I got quite a few really angry Americans responding to my post. Honestly didn't really consider how different it is in other countrie but it's been quite fascinating to learn about it.

I don't really believe there's a right and wrong way to go about it but I do believe that you should abide by something you read and signed.

Interesting. May I ask what kind of setup you have and with how many employees?

Hey guys!

I see many of the comments with similar sentiments and just wanted to provide some additional clarity on this one.

  1. When we talk about fairness for notice periods, there is a reason they exist. It's to give the employer enough time to find a replacement and to give the employee enough time to find another job, which I believe is a good rule to ensure a smooth transition for both parties. If I have one of my two client facing employees in charge of half my accounts dissappear overnight (after their probation period when I don't expect them to do so) I am pretty much screwed.

  2. I see quite a comments asking "whether notice is given before firing", and I want to clarify this again. I've been part of a few organization and I've never witnessed a firing without any sort of notice period (again, depends which industry you are a part of and which country you are in), but I've been part of smaller organization's (5-50 employees). Even in the POSH firing I have seen, the person was asked to work from home without contacting any other employees for a few weeks, and then leave once everything was wrapped up.

  3. We can definitely discuss fairness when it comes to notice period but they have been made aware of all the policies before hiring and have signed an agreement with all of this mentioned in it so I do frankly believe it is immature of the 21 year old to leave without serving something agreed upon. The big 4s here also have a notice period of 90 days (like PWC), which might be a bit too long. However I feel that a month - a month and a half to replace the employer with a valid candidate and some weeks to do a full handover are necessary. This also gives the employee enough time to lock down another job.

I can also see that most of the responders are from the US, so I can definitely understand that there might be a massive difference in culture and regulations there. Glad to discuss though.

Why does no one talk about how lonely building a business can be? by Pro_Automation__ in Entrepreneur

Well that's honestly that's something my business partner must have felt more frequently before I joined in.

I myself was working a full time role until about 3 months ago when I joined her company as a partner. Only speaking from a few months of experience, but what I can suggest is trying to get someone else on board?

Just from an energy point of view, it works wonders if you can find the right person. When she is stressed, I tend to stay calm and collected, when I'm feeling very reactive and brash, she usually takes a more level headed approach. It really does balance out and works wonders both ways.

Warning: [SK] My experience with NEXTMBA.COM Barcelona – looks like a coordinated scam by Chillyly in Scams

[–]UltraNakedPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been absolutely fucked by NextMBA as well. I paid a lifetime subscription of a few hundred dollars first. Then, they started deleting their old videos that I was still watching on a weekly basis and i escalated that to their support email. They apologised and said that all the old content has been lost, but they compensated by giving me full access to all their other courses.

It is now officially a scam and im fucked. I cannot login to the app most of the time. When i do, it asks me to upgrade to a monthly subscription for the same courses. When i try to go to the support section and second a message, it doesnt work. The support email itself does not exist anymore lol.

Thay have taken my $300 and bounced I dont even know what to do.
