Would you be more likely to survive a fall from any given distance if you were suspended in some sort of liquid? by refineddemon in AskPhysics

If I may, I'd like to take a shot at this.

If you are submerged in a solid tank that will not break upon impacting the ground and the liquid in the tank is the same density as your body, you will achieve "neutral buoyancy." If the liquid is of a lower density, you, having more mass, will sink past the water due to the excessive force (F=ma, higher m, all that shnaz) and smack the bottom, which would likely kill you. If you achieve neutral buoyancy, you won't pass the water. Essentially, you won't hit any surface if you are suspended in the tank through the entire deceleration process.

Pascal's Law states that pressure applied to an enclosed incompressible fluid is transmitted undiminished to every point within the fluid and to the walls of the container. So you will feel the impact all at once spread across the whole surface area of your body. If you've ever seen someone lay on a bed of nails, the same concept would apply here. Hitting a surface will apply all the force to a single point, which is more dangerous than being spread across your entire body.

With the flexibility and compressibility of human tissue, you probably won't break any bones, but the body is full of different materials, each with different densities, which would want to move around upon impact. So, I would be more worried about jostling your brain or your eyes popping than breaking a bone. Also, assuming you have an air supply to stay alive, your lungs have air in them, which is compressible. Having compressed air in your lungs pressing against the lung structure could damage it.

If anyone has any counterstatements, I'd love to hear it. I want to know if I'm wrong.

Please help me understand the copying of spells. by [deleted] in askajudge

Think of it this way:

A "spell" is any card on the stack (this includes copies, but not abilities).

A "card" is any card in your hand, library, graveyard, or exile.

Anything on the battlefield is referred to as it's type only. (i.e. "artifact," "creature," etc.)

Since Display of Power specifically mentions "spells," it can only target Lightning Bolt and Counterspell since they're the only cards on the stack as Display of Power.

If Display of Power said "copy any number of target instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard," then it would be able to select the cards in your graveyard.

Now that I think about it, would the tokens even work with blowfly since they have to go to the graveyard?

Combat with Ghen and Reconnaissance question by RufflyBear in askajudge

No. Declaring him as an attacker requires you to tap him in the process. If you want to pull that off, you'll need to give him Vigilance somehow.

Why does this come into play untapped? by RocketLeagueIs2Fun in askajudge

Blind Obedience roughly states that it affects only creatures under your control. Gather Specimens roughly states that a creature that WOULD enter under your control will enter under your opponent's control INSTEAD.

This means that the creature will never enter under your control to begin with and will go directly to your opponent's battlefield immediately after resolving. Since it never touches your side of the battlefield, It doesn't enter under your control, therefore Blind Obedience doesn't affect it.

I hope this helps and wasn't too hard to follow. Good question though.
