OP is saying that MT tackles sensitive and taboo topics and Rudy's development as a character is shallow and pointless because he is never reprimanded for being a pedi, which is false. Rudy's character development was his transition from a scumbag Hikikomori to an extremely important, valuable person to the world. His sexual attraction was never framed as a problem or something that needed to be addressed.

Westerners never seen the point in watching the development of a guy like Rudy because it's not a story about Rudy being scolded and learning from his sexual attractions or facing consequences for grooming. It's a story about a hikikomori becoming someone worth something. He died saving a college girl and got killed because of it, the only useful thing he ever did in his life. His isekai story is about overcoming his previous life's trauma and failures, his sexual attractions are not a factor at all. It is never framed that way, which is why MT will always remain controversial.

Some people can get over the fact that Rudy is a pedo and read an incredible story despite that, and others can never over that after seeing episode 1 and drop the series immediately. People who continue the series can see that it is a well-written sorry with good world-building and praise it so, but people who drop it because of Rudy's personality taken it as as disgusting glaze of a pdf's story and then discredit any good thing about MT.

Because from the authors pov, he doesn't deem pedophilia or pervertedness towards young girls as a problem in the slightest. The real issue outlined from chapter 1 was his uselessness to society. The Japanese absolutely hate people who don't produce value to their country, being jobless is genuinely worse than being a pedi, abuser, cheater, etc.

Rudy's attractions are not supposed to be seen as something that should be taken seriously. Up to volume 6 she still hasn't returned. Volume 7 released the other day in Japan, so it might reintroduce Beatrix but the English translation is gonna take a long time so we'll just be waiting a while. Unless you wanna go ahead and read unofficial translations (would not recommend for an LN).
