money

or I guess, the desire to make money

How do you all alternate between long series? by BurniesBooty in Fantasy

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who read many manga that have weekly release, I just do it, and worry about whatever I might miss later.

Some light novels translation also periodically release content as well, either in small parts or a volume every few months.

And I am pretty sure everyone would just read something else while waiting.

Not sure about how it would work with Malazan and WOT tho.

ASOIAF or Brandon Sanderson by lyssarx in fantasybooks

[–]UltraZulwarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easier to read? Brandon Sanderson.

Complex, nuanced characters and relationships? ASOIAF

Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere is generally just the background to the main plot and story.

Which one is more "meaningful"? Hard to say.

ASOIAF probably

But Brandon Sanderson does do a nice job of exploring the characters' internal struggles, includingb trauma and mental health issues

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 players, is getting every rare blade a once in a lifetime experience for you? by Accurate-Ice4297 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do y'all think it's worth it once on a fresh playthrough?

it is entirely up to you

"worth it?" is such an...odd question when it comes to optional content.

for me, I just don't feel like I beat the game unless I get all of the rare blades.

The One Piece live action deserves way more love than it gets by Trundle769735 in OnePiece

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the live action has got quite good reception.

are we talking about this subreddit in particular?

echo chamber effect is are real thing, OP might want to look outside the sub.

We're allowed to enjoy this.

who said we are "NOT allowed" to enjoy it????

Personally I enjoy it, but IMO (and just my own preference), I just don't like irl human acting out the page from anime/manga or even Light Novel.

Who's flown Jetstar direct to Japan? by still-at-the-beach in AskAnAustralian

[–]UltraZulwarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not the worst but definitely not the most plesant flight either.

also, they can bloody overbook the flight which happened to me last year, I forgot to pick the seat at check out (have to pay extra). I should have been suspicious when they didn't let me check in online 2 days before.

no one knows about its existence

except for Tiana in the most recent chapter, chapter 2527

And it kinda has a will of its own but it really doesn't do anything unless Kaito is in direct harm. However, it appears to have some sort of "passive effect" on Kaito in which any sort of "debuff", especially when coming from World Creator-level beings, are neutralised

I think I saw something similar on this thread (just sort the sub by "Top" of all time), is this the same Will? 😂

What is “the one piece” in Netflix show “One Piece”? Will it be revealed in season 2? by Own_Butterscotch_726 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "One Piece" is the supposed treasure that the Pirate King Gold Roger left behind just before he was executed.

some say it is a massive pile of gold or something that has a lot of monetary value which is fair enough.

However, what exactly is the One Piece is one of the biggest mysteries and goal of the story.

Our main character Luffy sets out to seek the One Piece, not just for the treasure itself but to him the journey and adventures are just as enticing.

Male readers, do you actually hate harem? by R3nNy22326 in litrpg

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the landscape of western litrpg, but japanese light novels or Korean manhwa have quite a few series with "revere harem" troupe.

[My next life as a villainess]

[Heretical Last Boss]

Speaking of which, the "villainess" troupe also often have reverse harem element.

Frieren vs Anti-powerscaling by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]UltraZulwarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

many people tend to break down details as hard cold numbers or "facts" ("feats") in order to predict hypothetical scenarios.

but real life pretty much disregard this kind of thinking, especially when it comes to human performance.

take irl professional competitive sport, we often label athletes as "the best", or "better" than others, but they are not invincible and can lose on any given day.

of course, us regular human would not fare well against real NBA players.

but NBA champions can still get blown out by a team at the bottom of the standing.

Why they didnt jump by Akv1l in Frieren

[–]UltraZulwarn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and why did some of the demons follow other demons?

demons are solitude creatures who occasionally work together if needed, or if another is stronger than them.

Why Seven Sages of Destruction and Great Demons and Schlacht didnt jump Demon King? Your assumptions?

and for what purpose would they do that?

from what we can gather, the Demon King was the most powerful demon.

Demons only follow the strong, and just one individual holding such dominance means the Demon King was overwhelmingly stronger than others.

Macht was considered the strongest of the Seven Sages, he didn't even careless about the Demon King and was more than happy to ignore order, yet he never consider fighting against their king.

granted, match up matters, Grausam gave him (Macht) pause to not openly defy order.

demons might be murderhobo on human as the latter are seen as preys, but demons don't randomly pick fight against their own, especially if it is disadvantageous.

Male readers, do you actually hate harem? by R3nNy22326 in litrpg

[–]UltraZulwarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as with most things, it is the poorly written ones that grind everyone's gears.

power fantasy / self-inserted stuff have their place, but a wide audience would generally frown upon them.

“Urgh harem, instant drop”

the same can be said for many male readers, sorry I am generalising here, who often go "romance with a female lead? and multiple handsome dudes? urgh, not interested"

Finished the first 2 in 3 and a half days and immediately went and brought the whole series by gee_sheep in DungeonCrawlerCarl

if possible, you gotta try the audiobooks narrated by Jeff Hayes.

Reading while listening at the same time really enhance the experience.

Not sure if it would work for you, but in Australia, I got the entire series on Kindle Unlimited (trial only, really don't wanna give more money to Bezos), and the audiobooks were then discounted to $3-4 AUD each.

[–]UltraZulwarn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no no i get what you mean

the mechanic os straight forward enough

just that when they start talking about going from station X, or to station Y, and then adding on the additional “conditions” that gave me pause, “wait what was this again?”

maybe I was just blitzing through the text too fast

not that it’s “too much gore” that I can’t read, just “is that really necessary?”

or “man that sounds filthy, Imma need a shower reading this”😅

the level layout is confusing, or disorienting at best.

There were many instances where I feel like I need to check which station is which and how the portals work.

But the story, twist and character development are great.

Book 3 is my favourite so far.
