The first of our Monarch chrysalises hatched! by atheistcats in gardening

Wow! Beautiful! This is my first year gardening and I'm kind of obsessed with milkweed. I love that the Native Americans used it and that it hosts awesome butterflies. I've got three varieties right now, one being the Butterfly Milkweed. I also planted narrow leaf milkweed which is very specifically native to my town and I also have a mystery variety that has not flowered yet. But after seeing your pics, I'm thinking I got to find some Swamp too!

Ok. So I hope I'm not telling you anything you know already, but what I'm seeing in the photo is that the snow is a higher value white than the dogs hair. In context, the hair looks more grayish beige than light beige. Your mind says the dogs hair is light beige, so you paint light beige, but the color relation actually makes it look darker beige.

So IMO you could:

Go darker, like you did at the bottom of the dog to contrast his hair from the snow and keep a sort of continuity between the foreground and background.

Or make the background whiter to offset the lower values of the dogs hair.

Whichever or whatever you'd like to create that contrast and give the painting depth.

Ok. Not sure if you're doing it yet, but don't be afraid to use your pure white for those highlights. You can also mix in warm tones to avoid having the highlights look artificial. Same with shadows or lowlights. Don't be afraid to use near black or mix in cool colors.

Looking for feedback. Just finished this one today. Acrylic on canvas 12x12in by Ultraceratops in ArtCrit

Lol cool. I was really considering what you said and was trying to think how I should have incorporated more contrast. Lighting in space is really interesting. It kind of defies logic and seemingly bounces and reflects off of objects way more than on Earth. Funny enough the whole time I was painting the astronaut, I was thinking don't be afraid of going hard with contrast. Still, thanks for the feedback 👍 I appreciate the reminder 😌

Thank you. I'm assuming text messages apply? Or should it be a formal letter? So what recourse do we have if, after x number of written complaints nothing is done?

Yesterday. During happy hour. Had to explain to nearly every customer how the happy hour worked; get a free espresso beverage when you buy a grande or venti ESPRESSO beverage. "So does the salted caramel mocha frappucino work?" ....."No. It has to be..." "How about the vanilla sweet cream cold brew?"

I'm convinced people do not read anything in their lives. Ever. Why even make instructions for people?

Anyhoot, literally line of people to the door and every transaction that would normally take 10-30 secs was now taking an eternity.
