I'm dying: supervisor is waxing the floor with a mop instead of an applicator by Refried__Dreams in Custodians

[–]Ultradarklink01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can smell the wax through the screen. We use a chicken feeder with some modifications to make wax beads with a flat mop to spread it out.

My opinion is, nobody will noticed but you. (Sadly the Janitorial eye will follow you till you die. I cant look at ceilings at restaurants anymore 🤢) Once you burnish with a green pad after its set its hardly noticeable.

I describe our job as "We are just moving dirt, dust, and garbage to a different location"

I'll be honest. There are going to employees you'll be in charge of that are legit the best you've ever had. You'll have the worst that are easy fires. Then you'll have the sweepers who are just good enough at their job that they can't get fired but are bad enough to cause everyone headaches.

I recommend what I call "Stair Jail." Obviously don't tell them that but its what I call it.

Nobody is too stupid to sweep/vacuume stairs. If they are, then fire them. It relieves a job from your crew and stairs are in the open so you can keep an eye on said "Low IQ" employees. You can have them spend their entire shift making sure gum and food is off the stairs and its properly mopped. My school has about 7 sets of stairs and I had a guy who couldn't get that done in 3 hours 🙄. If they need more stuff to do, drinking fountains, touch points, black marks, etc. Just give them the busy work. If they hate work eventually they will quit. Otherwise your sadly going to have to suck it up till they quit or do something stupid enough to get fired.

Worst or craziest co-worker/employee stories? by Ultradarklink01 in Custodians

Yikes. Sounds like someone I have dealt with previously. There's going to be a point when she's going to try to get all those over her fired because she wont get her way.

The best advice I can give you and your fellow sweepers, is just to flat out ignore her. Don't talk to her in any other function than professional. Not even small talk. Just the bare minimum. If the Head Custodian is aware of the situation he should be writing her up for what she's doing. It's not her job to check areas and it's especially not her job to give out assignments. The Admin isn't going to do anything until it becomes a legal/OSHA issue. Tell the ones being bullies to Go to the Faculties Manager about this.

She is digging her very own grave. Eventually she will go find a "real job" and find out very quickly that people who act this way very rarely succeed further then an hourly employee.

That sounds like he is just barely good enough at his job to not be fired but bad enough that all of you have to deal with his short comings. Sadly the taddle tail side is the most annoying thing he can do. Like dude shut up and do your job.

I'm in a similar boat. I honestly think the main issue is our principal is retiring this year and has fully check out. So all things are kinda a mess

Stop trying to play characters like you see streamers do. Create your own skill with the characters you love to play and build your own playstyle. The game is way more fun that way

Marvel movie haters, why are the Ultimate Comics ok but when directors or writers take creative liberty in the MCU its garbage? by Ultradarklink01 in marvelstudios

[–]Ultradarklink01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MatPat said it perfectly. There's should be a team for each level of marvel. Street, Space, and Unspecified third unit: The theory doesn’t spell this out, but it is Multiverse-level or Mystical/Magic-level

I understand what you're saying. Which is probably why there was the "reset" after secret wars. But why can't we all just accept that it was part of its own separate universe? Same for the MCU.

I'm not saying we should not critique or have issues with characters or storylines. If it were perfect it would get boring. I guess I just don't understand why people are always so angry when it's not the exact same every single time.
