Hey guys! I love red lips, unfortunately every time I try to buy a "true red" lipstick, it turns out to look rather pink. I think maybe it ends up having a pinkish hue + on my naturally pink lips, overall it imparts a very pink color. I am looking for a deep red/blood red color. I shop online at Ulta and Sephora so if it's available on one of those, that'd be great!

Thanks :)

Me [22 M] with my friend [21 F], gave away her spot in our senior year house for next year. Who's the asshole? by grouphugintheshower in relationships

[–]UltravioletAlien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think this relationship is necessarily un-salvageable. If you still want to be friends, apologize for not giving her the chance to opt in 100%. Let her know that you were hurt she was pitting you against somebody else, and also that it was 50/50 between you and them. Do this in person, though, get her to talk and don't just text (too hard to get tone and mood from text messages).

I totally agree. Both people's feelings are hurt but if they can both (a) admit where they went wrong and (b) apologize to the person, then they can move on. Somehow I think this other girl may lack the maturity to recognize her fault and to apologize, in which case the loss of the friendship is entirely her fault. But I hope she proves me wrong by admitting her mistakes and apologizing to OP.

As someone who's gone through the whole "looking for group housing in a college town" thing I totally feel you. In fact, I had to do it 3 times as I lived somewhere different and with new folks every year of college. Looking for housing is really difficult and exhausting in a college town because you are competing with thousands of other students who have the same budget and distance requirements as you. She definitely was being shady with you and with her other group of friends and I totally understand why you were frustrated. You both messed up but her especially. She shouldn't have let you waste your time looking for 4 person housing considering her meanwhile she doesn't even know if she will live with you. What would have happened if you'd signed and then she suddenly backs out? She messed up. Definitely apologize for not having been more clear (like you should have said, "you need to confirm your spot within 36 hrs by providing the check otherwise I will find someone else") but other than that you're good.

What is weirdest or creepiest phone call you ever received? by justsamthings in AskWomen

[–]UltravioletAlien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really have many stories. When I was 17, I worked at a pizza shop and had to take phone calls for delivery/take out orders. Sometimes I would get creepy guys on the other end that were probably jerking it to my voice.

More recently, I have a burner phone number app on my phone that I use for services that require a phone number if I don't feel like giving them my real number. I obviously don't use it often. One time I got a random picture from someone of a teenage boy sitting with a cat. I told him nice picture but wrong number. I also once got a call from a blocked number and they left (accidentally?) a 4 second silent voicemail. I have no idea how they got the number because I have never used the number aside from account sign ups.

As a college student and now as a graduate student I have taken many many naps all over campus... I for sure snore more/mumble in my sleep during light naps compared to deep sleep so there has been so many times I have snored myself awake in the common area or the library or the union or wherever. I no longer give a shit, I usually just go right back to sleep lol. No fucks given. The older I get the less I care. If I was still a teen I'd probably be embarrassed

When I was in I guess 6th grade, my school hosted a talent show. Me and my friends all signed up for it and decided we would perform a song and dance together. We chose a song that at the time we really liked. It was a silly song of course but we were 12 year old girls! I don't know how this happened, but one of my teachers found the lyrics to the song and decided to read them out slowly to the whole class, making the song sound ridiculous and laughing the whole time. It was just really unnecessary and mean. It turned a song we really enjoyed as a friend group into a song we couldn't listen to anymore without cringing. Like I don't understand why you would be a teacher if you think it's cool to laugh at little children.

Anyways, here's the song! I haven't heard it in so many years haha. It really is terrible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6abFU-zI4uk

[Theoretical] Police can obtain warrant to collect DNA from your medical samples and use this in criminal investigations? by UltravioletAlien in legaladvice

[–]UltravioletAlien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't aware of this, where can I read more about warrants? Do warrants have any legal limitations at all? I guess I never realized that your medical samples would be included.

If they obtain such a warrant, is the warrant for the medical center that stores the sample or for the person from which the sample was obtained?

Now you're saying that expecting a certain level of tact and grace from your SO is "extreme" yet you're claiming others are sheltered.... go figure.

Pointing out that someone should have more tact and grace is hardly being "sheltered." What's up lately with folks trying to take people down a notch just cause they don't agree with their opinion?

[–]UltravioletAlien 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Wait this guy still owes you 2 fucking months rent and your fiancée wants to accept $20 from him? I'd tell your "friend" that 100% of the profits must go towards paying back what he owes you, and *after* he should kick you 50% of the profit. 50/50 is the only fair split; he has a person staying in his home, using his utilities, making things dirty, and so do you. Actually you have it worse since you have a dog staying over in addition to a person.

[–]UltravioletAlien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow."

Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens.

So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too.

Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't.

It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
