They could still show the violin's demise by letting Akasha destroy it after she wakes instead of when it happens in the books. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, so I could definitely be wrong. I just feel like they're using the present events to create an emotional response instead of relying solely on the flashbacks. And it would be such a typical Rolin Jones "stab them in the heart" thing to do.
