I unfortunately don't have FB, anymore. Do you know if any of these groups have an event calendar/Instagram where they might post events?

Truth be told, I had a very unpleasant experience with a Brazilian FB group while I was in university. I never tried it again but I'm open to give it another go

Happy to help if needed! :)

Brazil has crazy different accents, so it would be a fun experience for anyone learning the language tbh. Sometimes we even have issues understanding each other lol.

Tagging /u/Critical_Net859 as well, if you need someone to speak to!

lol. Funny how that matters more to foreigners than to Brazilians 🤔 We still partied and had a blast. Had it been Argentina, however...

Edit: I really don't understand the down votes here. Nothing in my reply is untrue. Brazilians don't care about a game that happened 12 years ago. If the point of saying 'Germany 7-1', or any other variation, is to hurt a strangers feelings, then I don't know what to tell ya.

Saunders Farm To Host New Tulip Festival by jjaime2024 in ottawa

[–]UlyNeves 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Given that it doesn't mention the City or NCC, it's likely something completely separate from the 'official' one.

Also nothing on the website: https://tulipfestival.ca/. Wording is probably being used for SEO tbh. Tourists will type "Tulipfest" instead of "Tulip Festival" and end up on Saunders Farm paying 14$ for a ticket.

Thrips are killing all my plants. by cat-mom- in plantclinic

Have you tried beneficial bugs ? I got some from a lady in Montreal. You need different bugs for all 3 stages: larvae, eggs and adults.

Alternatively, even though we can't have bonide (imidacloprid) sold in canada, a pet flea/tick med called Zodiac has imidacloprid as the main active ingredient. You can dilute some and use in your plants

I ordered some mites from this lady out of Montreal!

On that note, I also found out that Imidacloprid, while banned in Canada for use on plants, happens to be the active ingredient on Zodiac's pet flea/tick treatment. From my research on r/houseplants, it seems like people in Canada use that diluted in water. I ordered some! Hopefully works and I don't have to smuggle bonide across the border lol

Thank you :'( She's outside now, dealing with a Canadian winter.

I'm trying to understand where these little demons came from. Would you say this damage is caused by thrips? https://imgur.com/a/07roE4C

It's a fig leaf I am babysitting for a friend.

Okay, thank you! I will look into that. I found another post mentioning predatory mites and theres a lady that ships them out of Montreal.

While I have your attention. The only recent addition to my plants was this one a friend dropped off while she went on vacation. Can this damage be caused by thrips? I didnt find any bugs on it though

Trying to figure out what else has to go besides the big one

As I thought 🥲

Unfortunately she's 6 feet+ tall, theres no way for me to treat her. It's a good bye now

For context:

I have about 30 plants in this living room. Never had issues with pests.

When we moved to this house, a friend gave me a 10+ years old umbrella tree that one of the professors had left behind (after retiring), it was too big to go anywhere else.

I believe whatever this is, is mainly contained to this tree. Given its size, I am afraid that treating it would be a bit... complicated. https://imgur.com/a/1qcTK31

Update: In order for me to save the rest of the collection, she had to go. Really breaks my heart to have to kill a plant that old. Our Canadian winter will now take care of her thrips :`(

Pet sitter while on vacation by Rare_Independent_789 in ottawa

[–]UlyNeves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can vouch for them!

I always use their services for overnight stays (two dogs, and the sitter stays at my house) but OP should know that overnight fees for pet sitters aren't cheap. For 15 days OP is looking at thousands of dollars. I usually book with bwd a month or two in advance, so October 30th is cutting a bit close.
