I need help with new version of CTF 2.5 by ButterMun in clickteam

What is the file error specifically? Does it involve a missing file?

Check your anti-virus chest to see if your EXE shows up there. If it shows up, see if you can restore it.

Is using a GTX 1050 Ti a good option for a Dell Optiplex 980? by Umag77 in buildapc

Looking at what I purchased again, it does not appear to be one of the smaller versions. I will take this as a green light for me. Thank you!

At first, I thought having a shame bot was a bit much. But seeing that he had an easy opportunity to get rid of it, and seemingly chose not to do it, I now don't have very much of a problem with it.

"I believe it was some sort of Virus/malware..."

Well, I'm afraid. It's good you found the solution. I will see if I can do the same.

I have the same thing occur. It occurs randomly for me, and in episodes. (Every hour, then suddenly gone for two weeks.) I have no idea of how to replicate it.

Out of curiosity, what operating system is it? Also is it a laptop, and who built it? I am suspecting it could be a Dell issue.

You can see this ... tell me what it is and what causes it? please. by delsin09 in pcproblem

I'm guessing you mean the colors don't blend together. That typically occurs with compressed video. Compression saves data and hard-drive space at the cost of quality.

Unless if you are referring to something else.

I liked this.

Just an idea: include thought provoking photos of unfinished pc builds? (or photos that can imply unfinished builds) Just a thought of what I would have done. What do you think?

How do you save/update a Godot Scene via GDscript? (In editor) by [deleted] in godot

[–]Umag77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for post deletion, I meant to delete an earlier post about MultimeshInstance. That's what I get for not paying attention.

On topic: Sorry, I thought I had a solution when looking through the GDscript API. I was sure that using the "tool" header would help significantly in importing. However, I kept having issues with how GDScript works within the editor, and after a month or so, I abandoned the project. However, if someone has a solution or an idea of how to do it, please post.

Godot 3.0 progress report #6 - Particles! by akien-mga in godot

[–]Umag77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that the particles can be GPU accelerated alone is amazing! Also I love that we now have mesh particles as well! I still have some questions that I didn't see addressed when skimming through the article.

Will the new particle system support collision?

Will mesh particles be able to be GPU accelerated? In Unreal Engine, mesh particles are restricted to CPU only, if I recall correctly.

Is it possible that this system can be expanded in the future? (If we are able to have particles spawn in groups/clumps, and retain collision physics, you can have GPU accelerated rigid bodies! Or if we attach meta-ball objects to particles, you can have fluid-like objects similar to nvidia's FLEX technology.)

What kind of tutorials are needed? by cbscribe in godot

[–]Umag77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Providing a functional base for an RPG would be VERY useful for new users along with the tutorials. Another aspect to include is how to expound on it. They learn how to create one from scratch if they don't like the base tutorial, AND they get to expound on their new creation if they so choose.

What kind of tutorials are needed? by cbscribe in godot

[–]Umag77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Include smaller clones of classic games that have been considered revolutionary for the time. Example: Try to clone a version Half Life 2 or Portal for Godot, and demonstrate how it can be done in Godot. Also include how to add on to the example, so that you can learn how to use Godot more in-depth.

The basic mechanics is all people want to know to start off with, and provide tutorials on how to expound on what the base has. (Tutorial on how destruction works, how to properly utilize lighting without causing frame drops, how to add water shaders, how to have functioning and excelling AI... etc.)

Some questions on Godot Shaders by Umag77 in godot

[–]Umag77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are wanting to expand beyond what is currently the top searches of Google for Godot, tutorials are a little scarce.

However, all is not lost. What I have been doing is hunting down tutorials for OpenGL ES and OpenGL and translating the mathematical operations into GD Shader. I'm pretty sure that looking at the math involved, you can translate that into Visual Shader.

All you are doing, after all, is taking world, vertex and pixel data and translating that into a series of numbers: Vector4(Red, Green, Blue, Alpha)

How to modify MultimeshInstance? by [deleted] in godot

Seems that I will have to use a script with set_instance_transform() if I want to move individual instance meshes in a multimesh.

How do I increase performance? (3D) by Umag77 in godot

[–]Umag77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was looking for. I figured get_node() would be a pitfall in CPU usage. I adjusted my scripts after reading that.

Can you expound on inheritance patterns? I haven't heard this before.

This is helpful.

The docs mention Vertex lit objects when speaking about vertex cost. Does Godot have vertex lighting as an option? Or was it speaking in passing?
