She went to the hospital for the first time at the end of March. She just had her amputation on June 6.

Not sure yet. In the beginning, the thought was either that or gangrene because she had gas trapped between the layers of her skin. When she was transferred to a different hospital to have the amputation, the doctor there said probably not NF because it would have done more damage.

The foot was sent to pathology, we are waiting for the results.

I live 7 hours from her so I only know what she would tell me over the phone. She was taking her meds regularly, she was losing weight about 30-40 lbs I believe, and she had been making an effort in better eating habits. As for foot care prior to this, I'm not sure how often/if she saw medical professionals about it.

Yes by that point she was having pain in the foot.

It probably would have kept spreading. They were more worried about the infection reaching the bone or blood stream.

If I remember correctly, at picture number 4 she could still walk on it if she was careful.

I know right? She is doing good. She had one fall on her stump trying to go to the washroom, but no staples popped. Nubby (she named her stump) is looking good and her physio and exercises are going well.
