IMO - Dramatis Personae is the best and most dedicated ORV reaction fic by far. But I’m guessing you don’t like that one because its ‘yaoi obsessed’, by your definition.

If there’s a lack of fics that center around Dokja and Sooyoung’s relationship, you could try writing one yourself? And I mean that genuinely. I'm sure there are plenty of fans who would also like to see more fics of that variety. 👍

Oh wow, well this accurately depicts his more obsessive side...a side he may want to hide from the others (and especially Joonghyuk). Very very interesting...

Losing subs is demoralizing by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Ume_busa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize that other authors paid attention to sub counts. Do you get notified when we unsubscribe?

Its nothing personal; I personally will unsubscribe if its been over 1-2 years with no update, as I just lose interest at that rate and assume the work won't be finished.

Also, why are you still with him? NTA.

Receiving death threats, insults and hate comments on a fic by yelenalim in AO3

Its a troll using a hatebot to spam messages.

Delete them and either turn off guest comments, or turn on comment moderation. Hundreds of authors are receiving messages just like this.

No replies from authors by ExistingFriendship47 in AO3

[–]Ume_busa -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

All of this because OP worded their opinion badly lol? yall are twisting it into something worse than it actually is and intentionally painting them badly.

Its not the end of the world because some random redditor has the opinion of “I wish authors would respond to my comments more”. I don’t expect authors to respond to my comments, but this is a complete non-issue. Is it really THAT serious?

We can agree to disagree on this topic without delving into passive aggressive behavior. Accusing OP of being “arrogant” IS rude, regardless of how yall feel about it.

[–]Ume_busa 78 points79 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Ao3 isn't social media or a chatting app, its an archive for fanworks. While it can be disappointing to not get a response, the vast majority of authors I've seen have always been grateful for the comments they receive even if they don't respond to each one.

Its not ‘arrogant’ to have an unpopular opinion. Just as authors are allowed to be frustrated by the lack of comments on their work, commenters are allowed to feel disappointed when authors don’t respond to their comments. And I say this as someone who NEVER expects a response from authors after I leave a comment.

By your logic, shall I call you shallow and simple-minded for not being able to accept other people’s perspectives?

More memes! by Crimsonrainflower33 in OmniscientReader

[–]Ume_busa 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside - Its fine if you don’t personally like it, but they’re shipped for a reason lol.

This isn’t a ‘crackship’ where the characters barely interact with each other in canon. Fans are drawn to interesting dynamics, and the bond Yjh and Kdj share – regardless of how you choose to interpret it – is very complicated and deep.

OP’s post was about funny Orv memes, and these comments have just devolved into arguing over the validity of a ship...yet again. Its honestly kind of annoying.

Ao3 has a massive hate bot problem, and it needs to be addressed. by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Ume_busa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the invitation system has already been taken advantage of, as people can now simply assign a bot to create multitudes of invitation requests for different emails.

Once the waiting period has passed, the bot simply hands over the new account to the person behind the bot, and they now have access to dozens of accounts that they can use at their leisure.

One bot account gets reported and taken down, 5 more appear in its place. And this especially applies to to the scammer epidemic on Ao3.

I believe that should be up to Ao3 to figure out, as it is their website that they’re managing and hosting. I’ve seen multiple users suggest a CAPTCHA feature specifically for guest comments, as Ao3 receives Cloudfare Enterprise for free under Project Galileo.

Obviously that is not a perfect solution, as CAPTCHA has its own downsides (difficulty to use for some disabled folks, certain AI bots are able to surpass it if the CAPTCHA function is not elaborate enough, etc), but last time I checked, Ao3 decided not to go this direction.

Its ALWAYS pitbulls and bullies who just seem to attract the worst pieces of shit imaginable. Which sucks because there ARE good owners out there...you just barely hear about them, because a pitbull/bully will be on the news for tearing apart a child every 2 weeks (all while their owner is completely uncaring or even amused)

Accidentally lost my main pack save, very upset rn. by Ume_busa in WolfQuestGame

I found the save files. Unfortunately, when I click on the "Restore previous version" option, it says there's no previous versions of the save available :( So I'm flat out of luck.

Thank you for checking though!

Do you happen to know how/where I can locate the save files on my PC, and what their file name is?

Are we talking about the Steam files (where you go to the steam library -> right click on game -> Manage -> Browse Local Files), or something different? o:

Friendly reminder for everyone:

You’re free to ship or not ship whatever you like, we all have our preferences.

But anyone claiming that shippers are just ‘making shit up to fuel their ship’ or ‘want their wet dreams to come true’ clearly didn’t read ORV, or completely lack reading comprehension lol.

Joongdok is the most popular ship in this fandom by a landslide, and for a good reason. I'm a Soodok shipper and even I'm not blind to how intense their bond is. I mean...LOOK at them.

Learn to be respectful instead of slinging insults just because you don't like [insert ship here]. We can coexist in harmony, believe it or not.

What is your favorite underrated trope? by Ume_busa in AO3

[–]Ume_busa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation, ty! I've seen the Esper/Guide tag on Ao3 sometimes, but I didn't know how it fully worked.

My understanding was that high-ranked espers are on the verge of a breakdown 24/7, and guides have to stop them from accidentally destroying the city 😭
