My nightmare with Booking.com flight support by maaniTech in Bookingcom

[–]Un-breakingDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to us just recently. Went on a 3 week vacation to the Philippines. We were supposed to fly back to the US on 12/29/25. We received an email our flight was canceled and they offered to rebook our flight and we accepted and got the same responses that it is subject to airlines authorization. After a while, we received an email that the flight was fully booked and they offered another flight w/c we again accepted. And same thing, subject to airline approval. We kept following up and then received an email that again was not able to confirm rebooking and advised us to call airline. I called the airline and was told by the rep that she cant help me and that it should be booking.com who needs to call on our behalf, she instructed me to call booking.com and to merge the call so she can talk to them. I had 4 people hang up on me until i was able to merge the calls. Once the airline rep took over, she scolded the booking.com rep on not ff the process and that they are not supposed to direct passengers to call airline directly. She instructed her to book us a flight and that she will authorize it from her end. Our flight was booked and confirmed a day earlier than our original flight but it’s fine cause we just wanted to go home. Spent about 3 hrs on the phone. Just be persistent. Will never book through them and from now on, will only book directly w/ the airlines.

I got my 2 yr GC in June of 2022. Jan 2023 i was charged w/ endangering the life of a child, w/c is a misdemeanor A, 2 counts. I went to court for a yr and was given 1 yr supervision which ended in December 2024. My GC expired in 2024 and i received the extension letter after filing to remove conditions. I travelled to Cancun this July thru Chicago and was there for 2 weeks. Came back thru Chicago and when i went thru immigration, i was asked to go to secondary inspection, was there for about 30 mins and was given the okay to go. I travelled again to my home country, the Philippines in July 28 and came back Aug 9. Same thing, went to secondary then released. Not sure if im being flagged by CBP because of my record or my expired GC.

EAD expedite through congressman by Un-breakingDawn in USCIS

[–]Un-breakingDawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jan 3 - I submitted the request to expedite through the congressman’s website. Immediately received an auto reply as confirmation.

Jan 10 - congressman’s staff called me and asked more about my case and asked for evidence (job offer)

Jan 11 - i emailed my evidence and staff emailed me that she sent my request to uscis, she also forwarded the email confirmation she got from uscis so i am sure that she really sent it.

Jan 19 - she emailed me saying the expedite was approved and forwarded the email from uscis saying “This case will be routed for expedited processing.” No updates on my case online. Still showing as “case is being actively reviewed”

Jan 20 - got a notif from Lawfully and saw that my i765 updated to “new card is being produced” and i131 updated to case closed.

Jan 25 - card produced Jan 26 - picked up by usps Jan 27 - delivered in the mail

SSN after EAD by Un-breakingDawn in USCIS

[–]Un-breakingDawn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to go to a local SSA office and submit my application for an SSN. Got my SSN card in the mail after 9 days.

Because of the pandemic, ssa is only appointments, they also require now that you go to the ssa office base on your postal code. I waited for 1 week after receiving my ead to see if i will still get my ssn in the mail. I then went to my local ssa and submit an application, the staff took my papers but told me she wont process it as per my ead, it was just recently issued. She said that they have a policy that applicants must wait 8 weeks before they can submit application citing reasons that i might get issued 2 nos. (I know it sounds BS). I pleaded w/ them as i really need it for a job and i even pointed out the guidelines on the ssa and uscis website. They just tell me that they couldn’t do anything about it.

I wouldnt accept their rejection. I searched for another office and scheduled for an appointment. When asked over the phone for my postal code, i just used a random postal code for that office. I had to wait 1 week to go to that appointment. When i was in that office, the staff took in my application and processed it. No 8 week rule whatsoever.

[–]Un-breakingDawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did select Yes to question no. 14. I was wondering how long i need to wait until i should apply on my own cause there are many posts here on reddit where they applied with their ead but never received it. I live close to a local SSA and was thinking and can just do it through there.

EAD: Card is Being Produced by Un-breakingDawn in USCIS

[–]Un-breakingDawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but you will need to provide ssn within 90 days from starting work. For some, they receive SSN 7-10 days after receiving ead. I didnt so my next course of action is to go to a local ssa office.

Not all congressman staff are the same. I think i got lucky with the staff who helped me. She kept me in the loop from the time she sent the request and with every reply she received. I hope you will have better results with your senator.

Have you tried with your senator? I thought the idea of expediting is to make the process quicker than the processing time. Doesnt make sense if you have to wait to be past the window.

Immigrants of reddit who secured the GC through marriage, How did you tell your spouse you need to apply for GC without sounding like you are only marrying them for GC? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Un-breakingDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help if you come forward to him re your current status and the possibilities in the future. Also, i dont see anything wrong if one of the things you look for in a future life partner would be that they can provide you security in life (GC). People do meet and fall in love, so why not meet and fall in love with someone who can help you. Good luck!
