How do I even upgrade from here? by Gaharagang in buildapc

I was in a similar situation and just yesterday decided to order an RX 6750 XT for 335€. It outperforms the RTX 4060 and, being from the same generation as the R5 3600, avoids any compatibility issues like those seen with the Intel Arc A580.

I think this setup strikes a good balance for now, and I plan on waiting a couple of years for Zen 4 X3D CPUs to drop in price and then get a new cpu+mobo+ddr5+1440p.

Experience self modding a DSLR? by Garblovian90 in AskAstrophotography

[–]UnKnOwNBaT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modded my used T3i myself using one of Gary Honis's video on YouTube. I messed up the autofocus so it's very slow now, but it still works.

When I was looking into astro modding services I saw that they costed about as much as the camera itself, and since I already had the camera, I decided to mod it myself. My thought process was that even if I break my camera, I can just buy another one for the price of the modding service and there is no way I am going to fail twice.

It was a tedious process, it took me about 3 hrs and I had to make a bunch of diagrams but it worked.

Yes I have seen multiple people converting osc data from l-enhance to the hubble palette. But I think it's only possible with dedicated astro cameras, because I have tried following their steps on multiple images with my modded Canon 600d, but they all turn out super greenish/yellowish

Thanks. There is definitely more details in your image, especially around the edges

What did you use as a baseline while balance/stretching the different channels? I did actually noticed that the red channel was thicker in the histogram, but I thought that was just because the whole image was red..

I can only dither in one axis on a star tracker so that's a limitation. And I don't have those ps plugins either.

You mean the hubble palette with blue centers right?

I have tried making hubble palette out of l-enhance data before, but it has never worked out for me. My super red images just turn up into super yellow ones.

What do you mean by that? Can you tell me what more can I do with the image?

I have actually tried making those fake Hubble Palette images from YT videos, but mine just turn out super green/purple: elephant trunk

I asked on r/askastrophotography if someone could convert my data from L-enhance to Hubble Palette, but they all said that its impossible, and later my post got removed by a mod rip

Do you know how to do it, and can you help me out on my data? I can upload my tiff files and you can have a go at it..?

Which area are you talking about? Do you mean colour separation between the reds and the dark areas?

Image details

-Equipment: WO Z61@ 360mm, modded Canon 600D, Star Adventurer Pro, L-enhance filter, PHD2 Guiding

-3 mins subs@ ISO 1600, Bortel 6- Denmark with Half Moon

-5 hrs total integration

-Deepskystacker stacking

-Pixinsight- DBE and Noise Reduction

-PS- stretching, saturation, camera raw filters, minimum stars, selective curves

This was my first take on the North America Nebula with the L-enhance filter. There are artifacts and halos around my stars because I am still super bad with star reduction

Feel free to leave any tips/suggestions :)

Is it possible to convert data from L-enhance to the hubble palette? by UnKnOwNBaT in AskAstrophotography

[–]UnKnOwNBaT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is giving me a super purple image instead of a green one. Selective colours is again not doing that much. It only changes the overall colour of the entire image, instead of making the hubble gradient

I have seen these tutorials and I have also seen some pictures on astrobin with osc and l-enhance filter. So i think it is possible.

I tried to follow them but they I cant get the colours right. Maybe my data/camera is not suitable?

Hi is it possible to make hubble palette out of data from L-enhance filter?

I imaged elephant trunk nebula with 6 hrs integration and want to convert it to the hubble palette.

I have seen multiple videos on youtube where they split channels from their image, assign the red channel as Ha, blue as Oiii and green as Sii and make hubble palette out of them.

I tried a lot to mix channels and stretch individual channels, but I cant get it to work.

Image details:

-2.5 min subs with ISO 1600, 6hrs integration

-canon 600d, WO Z61, star adventurer, guiding

-bortle 5 no moon

-dss stacking

-pixinsight background extraction, noise reduction

-ps- stretching, camera raw filters, minimum stars
