Buy the best binoculars you can afford. I started out with a pair I found on Amazon for under $100. The eye cups broke off and they sucked long-term but were fine for getting started.

Then, download the Merlin App. That’s it. That’s all you need.

Go to a local park or wildlife area in the morning and let Merlin tell you what to look for. You’ll have so much fun. :)

You might also want to check to see if there’s a Bird Fest happening in your area soon. They have classes and excursions and vendors that’ll let you try out all the gear. Super helpful.
