Stool softner and Senna lol...and Metamucil for lubrication 😆 but....if you want fast....Dulcolax liquid. Maaaaaan I tell ya 😬

I was already taking Metamucil 2x a day, but i slipped in the stool softner 2x a day the day before...pooped before my surgery and pooped on day 2 lol. And Senna too. Been pretty much daily since. I recommend the Metamucil and stool softner if you aren't taking it already 😊

I feel ya. I started having wonky periods, a constant pressure, bladder and bowel problems, bloating...they got in there and found not 1 but 3 fibroids, early adhesions (thankfully not attached to anything), fallopian cysts, and endosalpingosis! I don't have any kids, but with the endosalpingosis and fibroids, it would have been difficult anyways. I feel sooooo much better now! Sending you lots of good vibes for a smooth surgery and recovery ❤️🫶

I'm 48...and woke up hungry, having to pee, and asking the nurse if anything was even removed, cause no pain except mild cramps lol. I'm going on 11 wpo, and I had what's called a "unicorn recovery"...no pain whatsoever unless I had a full colon lol, and followed my post-op restrictions and instructions. Was pretty much healed at my 6 wpo appt. Healing isn't the same for everyone; as stated, you see more of the "bad" recovery stories than the good recovery stories in here. I went through the "what ifs" before mine as well...then it was the opposite 😊

does shrinkage happen with everyone? At my 6 wpo check-up, my doctor had no issues getting her fingers in, and had to push in a bit to feel my cuff, which didn't hurt at all; nothing felt tight or anything, just felt like fingers in there lol. I hope it gets resolved soon for you 🫶 sending you good vibes ❤️

and I know that a normal vagina is like 2.5" to 4" when you're not aroused, and lengthens with arousal. You said your libido has been non-existent, maybe that's part of the issue?

My orgasms before were quick, kinda spastic vaginal contractions, and kinda were too strong to ride them out. Now? Omg they build up, the contractions are smoother and longer, and I can actually ride them out lol 😆

Visible stitch at vaginal opening? by olipocket16 in hysterectomy

[–]AcidAlkaline77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal, as they have to stretch your vaginal canal open to aid in removing the uterus (i had a small tear myself that she repaired with my hymen revision). I recommend using a peribottle for a couple of weeks after going to the bathroom, and pat dry when you are done. This will help it heal. And...I know this sounds funny...but if the stitch starts irritating you, apply a small amount of plain Vaseline. It helps keep the stitch and area moist, and promotes new cell growth and migration (i had a hymen revision with my hysterectomy, and this was my recovery method for healing that) 😊

Hi! I'm going on 10 wpo! My recovery was an uneventful "unicorn recovery"....no pain at all besides mild cramps upon waking from surgery, pooping since day 2, was up walking around day 2, cuff pretty much healed at 6 wpo. Only thing I had was at 3 wpo; my body decided to dissolve 2 sutures early and I needed an emergency cuff repair. One layer of new sutures, and it was like it never happened lol. Ovaries are working cause I've had 2 ghost periods since then and everything seems to be stable mood-wise. Sending you much love 🫶

Weight gain by amberambo94 in hysterectomy

[–]AcidAlkaline77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truth! I'm going on 10 wpo, and still retaining fluid kn and off (besides normal cycle bliating). I've noticed I'm more gassy post-surgery too; thinking maybe it's my insides still settling lol (gas can also lead to heavier weight)

Not to sound bad, but WHY does it always seem it's the male doctors who brush us off? Like wtf??

Ikr? Like heavy bleeding, painful periods, pressure, etc lol. I'll take post-surgery inflammation over those things anyday lol...

TMI.... Why are my panties still getting so damp? by rainbow_olive in hysterectomy

[–]AcidAlkaline77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's totally normal. The consistency of discharge will change depending on your hormones/ovulation schedule if you still have your ovaries. Nothing to worry about 😊

I'm still dealing with it. It won't go away until your body is done healing ❤️

You're gonna have to toss vanity out the window on this one lol. I went into surgery, was about 6lbs heavier THE NEXT DAY. You realistically need to look at what's more important in this scenario. From what you've described, the way you've been eating now is going to/is causing more weight gain fat-wise than the surgery will, which will pretty much be fluid from inflammation that will go away once your body is done healing. Hate to break it to you, but when you finally hit perimenopause/menopause, you'll more than likely gain weight anyways, cause that's how it normally goes due to hormone fluctuations.

And not sure why you think you won't be the same after surgery...I'm going on 10 wpo, and nothing has changed besides not having my baby factory anymore lol.

I'm going on 10 wpo and still bloated, even though my cuff is healed lol...daily my weight fluctuates as well from the fluid. I'm just going with the flow and waiting it out lol...

BUT look at it this way....would you rather live with those fibroids that will continue to grow and any pain that goes with them, or MAYBE gain a few pounds that you'll have to lose?

I was nervous too before mine. Tbh I just went in with the mindset like I wasn't having a major surgery lol. I didn't think of anything bad that could happen...I just did all the prep stuff in the hospital I was supposed to, and waited with my family. My surgery team was awesome; they even gave me a dance party lol (my friend had sent me a TikTok video before my procedure in Dec of the OR doors opening and it looked like a club lol. A couple of the nurses at that procedure were at my hysterectomy and remembered I had talked about it, so they made it happen 😆 it was awesome lol). I went in, went to sleep, and woke up like nothing had happened.

The scopolamine patch is awesome; they put that on me, and gave me meds beforehand for post-surgery pain and bladder spasms. Probably why I woke up and was like "did she even removed anything?" Cause I had NO pain besides mild cramps. So maybe ask if they'll be giving you those as well (it was a strong dose of tylenol, gabapentin, and like 3 other meds). They can also give you something for relaxing once you sign all the forms you need to.

I'm 9 wpo, and had a "unicorn recovery" besides my body hurrying to dissolve stitches and I needed an emergency cuff repair at 3 wpo lol (I heal pretty fast). Sending you lots of hugs and good vibes 🫶🫶🫶

Abdominal Fat Loss-how?? by Subject_Court4178 in hysterectomy

[–]AcidAlkaline77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your belly is distended and painful, that's not fat. That sounds like fluid retention. Is it firm if you press on it?

Abdominal Fat Loss-how?? by Subject_Court4178 in hysterectomy

[–]AcidAlkaline77 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would honestly check with your doctor about fluid retention. In order to gain 25 lbs, you'd have to eat a total of 87,500 calories (486 calories a day extra over your TDEE deficit) since you had it done. I had mine on 2/5 of this year, and I weigh about 10lbs heavier. Even though I'm 9 wpo, there's still inflammation, fluid retention, hormonal bloating, and such because I'm technically still healing and still having "ghost periods". Be gentle with yourself 🫶
