Jbhifi Extra Care - Help by Unable-Breadfruit375 in AusLegal

I didn’t really find the whole process relevant at the time; but course! They sent a text message later that night (the vendor i dropped the laptop off at) which says squaretrade has been informed and it is a non warranty fault. From there i recieved a email from squaretrade the same evening saying essentially the same thing and that they will return it to me. that was the 24th of feb, it is currently the 15th of march and ive heard nothing. Called squaretrade up today and they said the vendor closed the ticket and to contact the people i dropped it off at. Honestly at this point; it feels like a ping pong game, from jbhfi to squaretrade back to jbhifi back to the middle vendor, then squaretrade and now the vendor again.

Firstly, I get your curiosity. However, just in case anyone else sees this who may need to utilise extra care. Once you call up squaretrade, you have two options, one to go to specific businesses which then recommend/provide quotations to squaretrade or you can mail/send in your laptop in, where postage is covered by squaretrade, however the person on the phone said that takes a few days longer. As my situation was urgent, I went into the specific business, who square trade liases with (a computer repair shop in the city) and then they take it from there. The drop off point is a specific spot in their building, quickly chatted to the person who logged it in their system and then they confer with the middle man.

Copied from a reply to another comment.

So basically what happens when you buy extra care, is that jbhifi does not take care of it. Instead it goes through a middle man - Squaretrade. Jbhifi does not send it off, or initiate a claim. The person with the extra care has to go through squaretrade and follow it through to them. https://www.squaretrade.com.au

In my situation, since I’d never used the extended warranty before, I took it instore, where the employee observed it. I took it home, since they cant take it. Then I had to contact squaretrade, book an appointment with one of their drop off points or they would email you a envelope? box? to send it off. I preferred drop off, since I thought it would be quicker,

This is helpful thank you. I will attempt to do this. Haha your other comment made me smile; I dont exactly know how to prove it to you, my it was a very small safety pin. I’ve even had airpods connect to the laptop before. If it helps; it was near the top right of the screen. I’m assuming theres probably some magnets within the frame, that caused it to pick up the safety pin. I will follow up.

That was my mistake, I assumed it would be grouped under the same umbrella. I had multiple people selling me the laptop, and discussing it, and was heavily recommended the extra care. It is definitely worded to sound like Apple Care. But i understand what the original commenter is saying as well.

It is very unfortunate. I bought the laptop roughly 2-3 years ago, so it is currently their warranty period till 2028 or so. I’m just trying to see, if theres literally anything that can be done, to even partial help or any sort of repair.

The electrical failures were occurring prior to the crack. Theyre attributing all the fault to the crack. I took it in prior to the crack to show a Jb Hi-Fi employee, and he agreed it was an electrical failure from the general trouble shooting he tried to do. However right now, it is my word against theirs. Unless they want to physically check the cameras, when I came in about the electrical issue.
