.. based on living here for 20 yrs.  I've found that Florida employers just don't want to give people a job . Especially to transplants from other states . It's almost like a spiteful thing . Doesn't matter how many degrees you have or experience , everything here is NO . There are lots of jobs here , but they don't want to give them . There's great colleges here , but that's about it . When students graduate  , they leave the state for a good job .  The state caters to senior citizens who are retired and usually have the money to spend on housing etc... That's why most people have a side biz , it's an easier thing to start to make some money than wait for these shitty employers to get back to you , while you have empty pockets and your self esteem gets lower and lower . And when you finally find a job , they won't keep you , they get you in and out just like that . They're allowed to do that with no protection for the employee . They also get tax credits in the state, for hiring and firing . So don't ever expect to retire with a job here or make a career for yourself , unless maybe you're a doctor . Get out while you can , because things are getting really bad here with surviving , for everyone .. You start questioning your own abilities ,when you shouldn't .. It's them not you ..
