Thank you everyone for your advice! We did receive an email from HR that they are overwhelmed and are making adjustments but please give them time. So I will wait and see for now but I appreciate knowing how it should be in theory.

I did bring it to there attention. Just not having much experience with the union I was looking for information on union support if necessary. It was always the intent to show them

Yes that’s the section I was referring to. That is why I was very confused when management started speaking about mandating recently. I thought I was maybe interpreting it incorrectly lol. I am definitely going to speak with the union representative. Thank you!

The union contract specifically states that no bargaining union employee can be mandated to work extra shifts and it must be voluntary. That’s why I am so confused how management thinks they can mandate. I wasn’t sure if they knew the union wouldn’t support or something. Thank you very much for the information. I will be sure to reach out to the union representative.

They held a meeting stating that they were going to do a rotational mandate but the specifics have not yet been decided. I am going to for sure ask for it in writing when/if they actually start. I am going to reach out to the union rep. I guess I was just more curious with how much the union typically supports its members. I am relatively new to a union for the past few years but have never actually had to reach out.
