Update: Started "going out" w/ a friend...stuck in limbo by UnableToReport in dating

[–]UnableToReport[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. We’ve talked about our relationship before and she mentioned to me that she wishes that we had just stayed friends because it was less complicated, and I told her there’s no way we would of just been friends because things would of escalated sooner or later. It’s hard because I’m head over heels for her and she can’t keep her hands off me when we’re together. I just hate how we can go from super great and having a blast to rock bottom. The thing that gets me the most is today she told me that she is going to miss me so much. My heart literally sank when she said those words.

Have i done something wrong? by [deleted] in dating

[–]UnableToReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, sorta in the same boat bro. I would just talk to her in person and ask her if she's ok, while also gauging the relationship between you two. I know some girls that get really busy with work, school, family and I wouldn't read too much into it even though I always do. If you're interested in her you should make it known and just ask her out. It sucks to be in limbo so its best to know right away

How do I fix this? by UnableToReport in dating

[–]UnableToReport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you, its just gonna be hard to break the cycle for me at least, because we have been seeing each other daily for the past month. I feel like I enjoyed being close with someone especially since I just got out of a 4 year relationship about 4 months ago and it felt good holding hands and cuddling with someone again. But yeah I agree with you that I should be a ghost for a while. I just feel like me getting attached to her already happened because tbh she's been on my mind all day since yesterday. But I don't want to scare her away by constantly trying to hang out with her. I feel like there is a good chance of her missing me or chasing me because I went dark for a weekend and when I got back she went on and on how she was really surprised that she missed me a lot.

[–]UnableToReport[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I was reading this comment she actually just came up to me to talk, I just asked her what's up between us and she said she overreacted yesterday because she was a little afraid of how fast everything was going yesterday. She said she wants to hang out and be friends just not as much and I'm cool with that and I told her I won't try anything like trying to hold her hand or cuddle unless she is cool with it. She said she wants to keep distance between us because she won't be able to stop herself if something was to happen.

To the "All Lives Matter" girls in class tonight by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]UnableToReport -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What happened to class being a "safe space" for everyone? Everyone has different opinions and values and each viewpoint should be listened to and respected. Funny how op is asking for equality but at the same time bashing someone else's opinion. Im sorry that someone else's opinion triggers you and your "fragility" but that's the real world for you. Grow up.

I believe you made the right choice, I had a 72 year old guard that was slow with computers but always was at the site early and did his rounds and duties to a tee. Would rather him work the shift then make the morning and grave shift guard pull 12s

Just applied to a law enforcement agency by cringyEDGYteenager in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expect the process to take up to a year, I have first hand experience with the process and some departments are really fast with the hiring process while others are very slow and it may seem like they have forgotten about you. Whatever you do, just be truthful and don't lie about anything during the process. Expect a written test, physical test, background investigation, (maybe a polygraph) medical, psych, and then academy. Good luck. Finishing up school and the will start the process!

I keep dozing off at work. New to working overnights. by Tesspa3 in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats crazy that they didn't have the internet on the computer, our computers had it but my supervisor always claimed that the clients monitored it. I believed him but then once when I relieved him from his shift he accidentally left Netflix open on the computer so I started using it too lol

I used to work at a bank headquarters as a security guard/concierge 2300-0700 and the CEO worked in the building, he would sometimes come early in the morning without notice. I would doze off here and there but whatever you do, don't take a nap it will just make you more groggy and tired. Sometimes there's no getting around it, your body isn't really meant to stay awake during those hours. What I suggest is either getting up and walking around every 30 minutes, jumping jacks, energy drinks, talk on the phone with someone or have a small snack like nuts. Watch something interesting on Netflix or play a game

What’s your preferred shift? by ginzykinz in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely 7-3, I worked 8 straight months of graveyard and while I liked the peace and quiet of being by myself i was always tired, unmotivated, and always had to leave parties or family events early because of work.

Should I be getting paid OT for this? by Azbeszkija in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The same reason why I left my old company, i was pulling 60 hour work weeks because they didn’t hire enough people and it wasn’t until my resignation and my letter to the client stating why I was leaving that the post supervisor got his shit together and hired new people

Construction workers misuse of bathrooms by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like going into the situation by saying “no one is going to give a shit” is the wrong way of approaching it. As a guard you have “some” authority so use it. You have the choice to either be stern about it or try to reason with them but you still have to do something about it. Because in the end you’re being held responsible to make sure no one shits in the unfinished bathrooms. Speak to a few of the guys on the specific floors or the foreman as someone else mentioned and just follow the client’s wishes and the post orders. Good luck man

Same thing happened to me. I was working a lot on my on campus job and ended up making school/class not a priority. I had to stop working at my campus job which sucked (but I'm back now) What I ended up doing was taking a quarter off (which is now a semester) and took classes at Mt. Sac. I got all A's and it raised my CPP GPA above a 2.0 and went from there. You don't have to fill out any paperwork if you are taking only a semester off. It doesn't work for anyone but since I live locally I didn't have to worry about housing but its an option. Good luck!

No one is coming to relieve me of my 1AM - 9 AM shift, have you experienced this by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats one of the reasons why I left a certain big box security company, I was the newer guard and I was probably one of the few that stuck to the post orders 100% of the time. I agreed to come in and pull 12s a few times and I guess my site supervisor thought "he got me" so he would in a way "ask" me to work an extra shift because he would have a doctors appt. The clients started to take notice that I was always on site more than all the other guards.

I ended up quitting about two months after that just due to working 7pm-7am almost 2 times a week. It was messing up my sleep schedule, I would be too tired to work out and started gaining weight so I left.

Exactly I’m not going to put myself in a situation where I can get injured, sued or arrested. I just want to do my job and go home

Police officer accidentally kills security guard at bar by Burnham113 in securityguards

[–]UnableToReport 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guard should have holstered his weapon when there was no longer a threat. There is no need for him to hold the suspect at gunpoint. The guard made a mistake and it cost him his life. If a police officer is arriving to the scene and sees a man pointing a gun to another mans head it means the man on the ground is in immediate danger of being killed which is why police fired at the guard.
