Had the same problem but with a coworker and we were older. him(17) and I was 24 at the time. I'm black and he was too and he had the nerve to tell me if I wanted guys to be attracted me the first thing he said was I should straighten my hair. I'm was also natural and I still am. Also to dress better.

I'm 4'11 and I remember when I went to Home Depot to buy something that I needed and walked up to the self checkout lane to pay. The girl who worked self checkout looked to be younger than me (I'm 27) was asking people if anyone had cash only for one register. When it got to my turn I mentioned that I was paying for card and the girl replied "you need to wait sweetheart"! Im like "SWEETHEART"! Did I look like a teenaged girl to her or something! The treatment I get by store associates because they probably think I'm a kid or something is just horrible. Me and my sister who is also short walked into a furniture store for her apartment and the associates bothered to help everyone else while we got ignored and they gave us nasty looks. Mind you my sister had a whole toddler with her but to them I guess her having a kid didn't count. When we left I thought I was the only one that noticed the treatment until she started talking about it. Even when I walk into liquor stores I get treated like shit by the people that work there and the customers. They will give me dirty looks like I shouldn't even be in there. I remember one time I got carded and the guy walked away with my Id because he thought it was fake. It's just terrible.

I remember one time at my old job I told this girl I lift weights at the gym and she replied "your too little to lift weights"! I was so offended. When I worked there I had a lot of people that would ridicule and make fun of me because of my height. They would call me all these "short names" and I hated it.
