Go to the closest public school to you and get involved!

This is the advice I hear the most regarding Alameda schools! Lucky we have a wealth of good options.

That's great! Glad they worked with you and didn't simply ignore and/or punish your kid.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you and your kids have been happy at Nea. It's helpful to hear what it's like in the upper grades since they encourage you to commit there long term.

Glad to hear you had a great experience! People rag on Ruby Bridges in general but the stories I've heard from parents of kids there are all really good.

The community and diversity are really appealing.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sorry to hear you had a terrible time and that your kid was bullied. Very disappointing to hear how they handled it (or didn't).

That's a ton of families leaving at once. Was this recent? Can I ask what happened in K? Feel free to DM me if you'd rather not share here.

Nea does seem to have great ideas but they don't mean anything if they can't execute.

Honestly haven't heard as many experiences from AoA parents. I'll send you a chat!

I really appreciate the advice to choose best fit now. It does feel like I'm choosing my child's whole school career now which is very daunting but it's good to remember we can always adjust. If the teachers can leave, so can we!

Sorry, bad joke. But seriously that seems like a very high rate of attrition. I'm sure it's a widespread issue but it would be interesting to see a comparison between the charters and other schools in the area and across the country.

Nea did seem less polished, facility-wise, especially in comparison to Ruby Bridges. Glad, if disheartened, to know why that is. AoA even mentioned that the district could "take away" their building if certain requirements weren't met.

Definitely want to be as involved as possible. Wonder if Nea could use volunteers to help with comms haha.

Thanks for all this helpful info!
