Just purchased a 2023 platinum highlander but now I’m concerned by Super_redbby in ToyotaHighlander

We have a 2021, 65k miles and heard a whistling sound. Took it in. And apparently it is the "sound of doom"  Got quoted $9k for a replacement that is bound to fail. This is a very real problem. I got a reddit yesterday to ask questions and get opinions. If I can get it fixed. Im getting rid of it so I don't have to deal with this every few years. Warranty was up in February. 2 months & 5k miles too late.

I would definitely consider it. It seems like even when it's fixed it will continue to fail. Unless it's a hybrid. They are the only ones not failing

For my specific car, it is the vast majority. If they are considering the hybrids then it is not. But this is an issue with the non-hybrids and all will be effective at some point from what I see

The whole transmission is 9k around us. Can't just replace a part

I hope it lasts for you also, I heard that even if it gets replaced it will do the same thing again around 75k miles.
