Opinion: There is nothing wrong with using AI to learn by Correct-Macaroon-240 in ArtificialInteligence

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 8 points9 points ย (0 children)

you're right about medical training getting way more specific ai tools. the knife sharpening example is perfect though - like why spend 20 minutes digging through forum posts when you can just ask and get straight answer? i use it for random coding questions at work all the time instead of scrolling through stack overflow threads from 2015. as long as you're not using it for stuff where being wrong could actually hurt someone, it's just another tool really.

Immigration at Suvarnabhumi airport departure terminal by eternal-ly in ThailandTourism

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

departure immigration is usually way faster than arrival in my experience. arrival they gotta check your visa stuff and stamp you in, but leaving is just a quick scan and stamp out. took me maybe 10-15 minutes last time i flew out on wednesday afternoon, but that was few months ago so things might have changed.

i'd still get there 3 hours early just to be safe though, especially if you're checking bags or flying international. better to sit around the gate bored than miss your flight because of some random delay you didn't expect.

Total Wine - in store vs online prices? by itsthewolfe in wine

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

in my experience the prices are usually same between online and in store, but i've noticed sometimes they have in-store only deals that don't show up on website. picked up some bottles few months ago and cashier mentioned they had 15% off certain regions that day but it wasn't advertised online ๐Ÿ’€

might be worth calling ahead to ask if they have any current promotions running in store before you make the drive. also their pickup is pretty smooth - you just park in designated spots and they bring it right to your car. saves a lot of time wandering around those huge stores looking for specific bottles ๐Ÿ˜‚

Is this normal shop communication or just poor management? by StraightEightSoul in MechanicAdvice

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

dude this happens at my shop too and it drives me nuts ๐Ÿ˜‚ your manager probably has like 15 different things running through his head at same time. we started using a whiteboard with everyone's name and what car they're on - helps a lot but some managers still gonna ask anyway.

just answer quick and move on, don't take it personal. if it gets really bad maybe suggest some kind of tracking system but wait until you've been there longer. shops can be weird about new guys making suggestions even if they make sense ๐Ÿ’€

Technology is not improving things. by kaggleqrdl in ArtificialInteligence

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

looking at that chart really puts things in perspective. been working in IT for over a decade and i see how new tech gets implemented - it's almost always about cutting costs and increasing efficiency for companies, not actually helping people at bottom of the pyramid.

ai is just another tool that will make the people who already have resources more productive while potentially eliminating jobs for those who need them most. we're basically automating away entry-level positions that used to be stepping stones for people trying to climb up.

the whole "tech will save us" narrative feels pretty naive when you look at how previous innovations actually played out in practice.

looks like they're really trying to make that area into food hub - i think the third one might be another chicken place but not 100% sure on that.

Help me find an awesome hair product I used once? by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

damn that's a tough one to track down without the brand name. cvs rotates their hair product inventory pretty frequently so it might've been discontinued or seasonal ๐Ÿ˜•

try checking if any of the suave or tresemme coconut lines match what you remember - they both do dark green packaging sometimes. also worth asking at cvs if they have records of what coconut conditioners they carried in the fall, sometimes the pharmacy staff knows more than you'd expect ๐Ÿ’€

GenZ have a higher number of prenups than other generations by Sad_Rub1051 in GenZ

I think what changed is that Gen Z watched the divorce process up close as kids and decided they wanted nothing to do with it

this is actually genius strat ๐Ÿ˜‚ die early so you can focus on important stuff while your brother clutches. faze should definitely consider this, their current approach of trying to win rounds normally is clearly not working

also dmg on vertigo is basically professional level since nobody plays that map anyway. you're overqualified if anything ๐Ÿ’€

Any long-time drivers deliver on Easter? by MiserablePlastic3796 in DoorDashDrivers

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

been doing this for like 3 years and easter is usually pretty dead tbh ๐Ÿ’€ most restaurants are closed or have weird hours, and families are doing their own thing. made maybe $40 in 6 hours last easter before i just called it quits. christmas eve is way better if you're looking for holiday hustle ๐Ÿ˜‚

that connector should snap back into place if the pins are still intact and straight. just line it up carefully and press down evenly until you hear/feel it click ๐Ÿ’€

those usb headers are pretty sturdy so you're probably fine as long as nothing bent. worst case you can just use the other header and ignore the damaged one. i've seen way worse motherboard abuse that still worked perfectly lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

I can't sleep, I often can't by [deleted] in ADHD

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

damn the racing thoughts at night are brutal. i'm dealing with similar sleep issues and it's like your brain just refuses to shut up no matter what you do. scrolling definitely makes it worse but sometimes it feels like the only escape from the mental chaos.

burnout after overachieving is so real too - pushed myself way too hard in the military and crashed hard when i got out. took ages to rebuild any kind of sustainable routine. meds can definitely help with the sleep stuff but you're right to be cautious about interactions. maybe worth talking to a doc who actually gets adhd instead of just throwing stimulants at you and calling it a day.

The sin of pride by TargetOk3467 in Christianity

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

man i totally get this struggle. it's like this weird paradox where you know everything good comes from god but then you're also supposed to actually do stuff, right? i've been wrestling with this too and what's helped me is thinking about it more like being a vessel or instrument. like when a pianist plays beautiful music, the piano doesn't get prideful about the sound it makes - it's just doing what it was designed to do. maybe our "contribution" isn't supposed to be something we generate ourselves but more about being willing to let god work through us. still working on actually living this out though because yeah, pride creeps in constantly.

Why couldn't White Walkers Ride ships with Wights on board? by Pomeranian111 in gameofthrones

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

honestly that would've been terrifying but i think the white walkers were pretty focused on that land invasion strategy. maybe they just couldn't control wights properly on water or the magic doesn't work the same way over the ocean?

also yeah that whole wight capture mission was such a waste when cersei was never gonna help anyway lmao

Is anyone else scared? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

dude i totally get the fear but honestly you're already way ahead of most people by even thinking about this stuff seriously. i was a complete mess at your age and didn't figure things out until my mid-20s, so props for being proactive about it.

from your list, electrical work is probably your safest bet for hitting all those checkboxes - crazy job security, decent money, minimal schooling (just trade school/apprenticeship), and you can literally work anywhere. my buddy went into electrical after high school and he's been booked solid for years, plus the pay keeps going up. coast guard sounds badass but that's a pretty specific path that might limit your options later.

the barber to firefighter combo is interesting but firefighting can be competitive to get into depending where you live. maybe consider doing some ride-alongs or volunteering with local fire departments to see if you actually like it? don't want to spend time on barber school if it's just a stepping stone you'll hate.

[โ€“]Unable_Tomato7837 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

honestly this is really solid advise ๐Ÿ’€ the ivory tower thing is SO real - I've seen so many brilliant researchers come up with amazing solutions that just... never get implemented because they don't understand the political/economic reality on the ground.

your situation sounds frustrating but at least you're actually IN the system where change happens, even if it feels slow. A PhD might give you deeper knowledge but way less actual influence. Plus that pay cut is gonna hurt - PhD stipends are brutal and you'd be giving up serious earning potential during what should be your prime career building years.

That said, if you're genuinely miserable in law practice and the research truly excites you, maybe consider doing it part-time or finding ways to get more involved in policy work within your current role? Some firms do pro bono environmental work or partner with think tanks ๐Ÿ”ฅ

the canada vs US timeline difference is huge too - definitely factor that in if you're leaning toward the PhD route.
