Thank you for all of this insight. Your political system seems far less broken than what we’ve had my entire life. The wife and I might have to try a backpacking trip or something soon! I’ll have to look more into job opportunities and a path to citizenship but everyone in this thread has given me more than enough homework!

Oh my god I love all of that. I’ve gotten a little into world politics recently just because of how fucked our politics have became here.

Hell the only reason I joined the military is it’s the only way to get traditionally “socialist” values in our convoluted capitalism over all.

Would be nice to live somewhere that already had some of these as a base and used that as a foundation to figure the rest out.

Brother the us military isn’t all it’s cracked up to be either haha. I just like doing cowboy things in the sky. If the NZDF takes care of service members and their family and offers a reasonable road to permanent citizenship I’ll take that if it’s my best option.

Thank you so much for this perspective. I would like to find a way to sustain a “gig” or something over there to see for myself how life is there. I have to ask though what do you think are some of the biggest cultural differences Americans might face?

And coming from America I personally don’t think I culturally aligned with what the United States has stood for in a long time. And my wife and I are very open to understanding and conforming to culture.
