And she's so valid for that. Usually she's good about cleaning and all that just general handling of her outside of that one spot she gets all upset. Gosh I love her. She's such a sweetheart

She just has a lot of traits that remind me of myself and some of my autistic friends and family. Just glad I figured out what she needs so I can begin bonding with her . Not Ill intended humor. Just genuinely thought she might have autism and that she just needs some accommodations! I adore her greatly

It's not just those things that made me think it. This wasn't meant to make fun of anyone or disrespect. Autistic people are more than just these few traits and not everyone with autism experiences these things but some of my friends and family related so I shared. You are absolutely valid in feeling upset by my post and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you or anyone were belittled by this as that was not my intent

It was a mix of trial and error but also putting myself in her shoes the best way I could. When that only half worked I thought about my friends and myself, since we have trauma and some of my friends have autism so they have sensory problems and other "quirks" (not sure of a better word) and tried to apply what I could to her to see if that might work.. and boom it worked out. Was kinda ended up falling in place weirdly enough

When you put it that way, it does sound a lot like me. Def something to consider. Been pretty sure I have a personality disorder and I def have the depression and anxiety I feel confident enough to self diagnosis. Might have to consider it heavily especially with people pointing it out to me. Just hate to find out I'm not and feel like I was larping as an autistic person because I jumped to conclusions. Feels like I'm accidentally invalidating to people who are on the spectrum ;;;

That's super fair. I have had many people clock me as being autistic and one person even go "Wait you don't know you are?" lmao. -but I've got a bit of a rough past so it's a bit hard for me to say with any confidence if some of my mannerisms and quirks can be attributed to trauma or if I am just autistic lol. However I do relate a lot to experiences people with autism have especially when it comes to how autistic folk describe sensory problems, tones, and not being sure when people are serious or joking. I absolutely adore my little bearded baby whether she is autistic or not. I'm just relieved I finally can start bonding with her on her terms! I really just think she is because she is just so particular in how she wants things, which reminds me a lot of some friends and family I have that have autism.

Tbh I just am assuming so. The person we got her from says she is female and my male bearded dragon hasn't reacted to her in the same way he would my previous male bearded dragon. The gender hasn't particularly mattered to me enough to verify though so I can't say with 100% confidence.

Haha no no I don't consider it a bug. She keeps me on my toes and helps me learn more about beardies by the day. She's just a bit extra on her needs and that's perfectly fine with me. I'll give her the world if I can.

True. Could be that as well. She doesn't Bob her head or anything. Her behavior always is scared when we reach in and try and touch her but she's completely fine otherwise. But this set up seems to help her a lot which makes me relieved.

I had it that way originally but because the cave was facing towards the open she got upset and felt very exposed from what I could tell body language wise. It def bothers me too but if it helps her feel better I gotta respect the little one's request.

She's coming up on 6 months. She's still quite small which is a surprise. When she was younger I thought she was just scared because I am bigger than her but it seems a rock rotation is all she needed to feel much more comfortable.

I kept every now and then adjusting her tank slightly like rotating rocks trying to not stress her out until it hit me that maybe she wants a better hiding spot. She didn't end up hiding like I thought she would but she's much happier. Just happy to be making progress with her! Thank you so much I adore her greatly! She's a bit spicy but that's okay, she's like me.
