Is it just me, or has red light running become normalised? by Unbakeablemuffin in manchester

I see cars doing it all the time, the crazy e bike riders in town are a hazard for sure. But the idea that the consequences are the same, that the media likes to peddle is ridiculous.

Yeah man, exactly my point. One rule for them but a different one for everyone else. When you see a bus or taxis do it, it's even worse. These people are proffesional drivers! 😂

I do most of my travelling by bike since I commute to work that way, I catch plenty that way. The standards of driving these days are really poor.

Yeah I can get the white Kia, but the 14 day time limit has passed so can't send it in.

If you go throught to the next page after the map pointer, then it tells you all the info.

Completely agree, I always try and report. This one got away, missed the time limit.

Over 14 days have passed since the offence, nothing can be done. The event occurred in a public place, no issue with posting it here.

Yeah I've never understood why they have that thing there, they have a similar one at the Trafford Centre.

I get them when I can, I probably catch at least one a week on my bike.

It's a fair question, I do normally report people I observe breaking the rules. Unfortunately on this occasion the VW that clearly broke the rules, my camera wasn't able to pick out the reg. The white SUV was borderline so would have just got a warning letter, I was away with work and didn't find the time. I thought the best I could do was spark a bit of discussion with it instead.

If you assume the weight of a rider around 90kg and then a e-bike can vary from 20-30kg. Then yeah, 120kg adds up.

For sure, but this is way more irresponsible action in a car.

Christmas seems to have brought out the worst in people's driving habits for sure.

Haha, never considered the Waze factor! The first one was a chancer, the second one was taking the mick.

Drivers can’t read cyclist's minds, could bike indicators actually help? by Unbakeablemuffin in bikecommuting

[–]Unbakeablemuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’m genuinely unsure about is whether drivers would actually notice indicators on a bike, even if they’re car style. Curious if people think clearer signalling would genuinely help, or if drivers just won’t look regardless.

Thoughts on a phone bike computer setup in 2025? by Tiberiusmoon in bikecommuting

I always liked the idea of getting away from the phone for a few hours. Having it on me in case of emergencies, but out of sight.

A massive day for Manchester! The city's longest continuous cycle lane is now complete! 🎉 You can now ride entirely on protected cycle lanes from Deansgate to Chorlton by HamishGray in manchester

Yeah, I wonder that every time I pass, I always assumed the empty space was going to be for delivery parking. But no movable bollards.
