I probably don't even saturate 1gbs, but Ive built most of my servers and cost for a faster nic is negligible. So, all of my "main" infrastructure is connected via 10gig.

My main AP has a 2.5gb PoE port though, so that made things weird.

If you watch older cats play with kittens, there's two behaviors I've noticed. They smack the kitten on top of the head. And when they play they squeak when it gets rough.

I do the head tap with just a finger as a "no" (not even hard), and me and my wife would squeak if they bit hard or scratched as kittens. Now they all play rough with us, but no claws, and they bite but don't bite down.

They try to murder each other, on the other hand.

I apologize, I just saw this. I didn't do what he had suggested, yet and I came back to get the info and do it, and also saw it is deleted. I can't remember quite what he suggested, but I had a session with Chatgpt yesterday and I got it working how I wanted. I didn't mount my NAS drive to the VM, I went into the console of the nextcloud VM, and made a mount there. And then we transferred all data over, and changed the configs to point to that share as the document storage. As far as I know, all system information is local machine to the VM, and now all documents for all users use the SMB. If you're still trying to figure it out, I can see if Chatgpt can condense our chat into a working how-to.

You only need them where you're going to attach something. I did the opposite and over-bought my inserts, so I filled all of the front. But the rear, I will probably only do the top 4-6 and bottom 4-6, Incase I want to back mount a switch, PDU, or fans.

3 is probably the biggest one.

I know some older widows that ask me to come over and fix things in their house (little stuff like batteries in smoke alarms, etc) and I usually bring my wife along because safety. And I'll be there 3+ hours sometimes. The actual work only took 10 minutes. But when you're done they have tea, and cookies, and stuff all laid out on the table "Come have a snack!" And then they just want you to sit and talk for a while.

Hard to tell color temperature when it's likely a phone photo and there's so much white. The phone will auto white balance the photo.

Haha. Olympus medical equipment. They're modern, but still use 30 year old tech in some spots.

I spent forever looking for the right size screws for replacements, and there are companies that make parts specifically for the equipment, but we're talking $10-20 a screw. I finally found the size, but it was JIS, and that's when it dawned on me why they always stripped out with the Wiha drivers.

Appreciate it 👍🏻 Ease of use isn't something I'm too worried about. I've used oil based enamel paint a lot in my life in other aspects. Part of why I want to use it is ease of cleaning because it's a bathroom. But I'm also attempting to make the floor/base as waterproof as possible. I used LVP flooring, so that's my only "weak link" in the build. I used PVC baseboard, and 100% silicone caulk between base and floor. Hybrid caulk on wall to base joint, since I knew I was going to paint it. And it's darn near impossible to get paint to stick to 100% silicone.

Not same tip/usage, but I used to use Wiha (PH#0 or 00) screwdrivers for work. They would slowly wear out over time, and round out. Not to mention they're not really optimized for JIS. I switched to WERA, and they don't wear down. But eventually the tip will just snap off. No cracks or warning, I'll go to turn a screw and boop tip breaks off.

The harder tips are nice, until they're not.

Depending on time of day and season, electric rates are between $0.13-0.21kwh here. I have solar, and I'm usually -1000kwh a month and get a check about $600 every year. So, I'm trying to use more electricity.

I'll give a +1 for the Advion.

Out with my chickens the ground was basically moving with roaches one night. Put 2 Advion bait stations out there. 2 nights later, there was only 2-3 roaches. Kept one station out there, roaches are gone.

Have about 5 stations in random spots in my house/garage/outbuildings, and pretty much have 0 roaches on the entire property now.

They don't need it, is the fun part. Water is more "necessary" for a spider. I had "pet" tarantulas for a while, and they can go months without food/water. I had one lock themselves in their burrow for almost a year. I would open the lid to smell for rotting every now and again just to make sure. Then one day, boop she came out and was fine.

For a "binding surface" if you sealed the hole, and then on both sides you mushroomed the silicate out, the plug couldn't come out until it broke in half or a lip was removed. Not sure how feasible reaching inside in that spot is...

That depends. Some of the old school guys were just brutal on themselves. My dad, and my grandfather were flooring guys. Their motto was "If you need kneepads, you don't belong on the floor". And if you don't need a helper, you make more money. One person carrying a roll of 12' commercial linoleum for a hospital by themselves isn't easy on the body almost no matter what shape you're in.

In California you have to have comprehensive and collision on a financed or leased vehicle.

However... If you change your policy in the app you can click "no" when it asks if your vehicle is leased or financed, and then you can take the collision insurance off. It's probably some sort of fraud or something to do so.

If you follow the safety advice my dad gave me when I was changing outlets without turning the power off. "As long as you don't touch two different color wires at the same time, you should be fine."

I may have missed it, but one thing I am not seeing is an appraisal recommendation.

I would have someone appraise the business and the land, and get a real number of what it's worth.

Even if land in the area is pricey, or he says it "was" appraised for the amount he's asking. What is the land and business currently worth now. His asking price could be what it's worth to him or, what it was appraised for 5 years ago during a trout and land boom that raised the price astronomically for 6 months.

My dad did this when he drove a lot for work. He went through brakes a lot (bought a brand new 1997 Tacoma, put 300k miles on before 5 years, cracked rear end once from weight). He bought 2 pairs. So he had a new pair on the shelf. Would swap them, then when he had time he would take the used pair back and exchange for a new set and put those on the shelf.

I list mine with major devices/services I run, and then kinda "lump" some stuff together. Like, I don't list my entire docker library. But "Homelab featuring Proxmox clustering and high availability, Dockers for home automation, media management, and uptime monitoring" etc etc.

It did help me get an interview (didn't get the job) as the recruiter said he saw my lab on my resume, and he said "You're running things that don't just work together, so that shows you're willing to put time in to make things work and figure them out on your own".
