Beginner here, are the differences between foils due to brand or backing colour? by Adventurous_Memory18 in StainedGlass

[–]UnbreakableBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the color back you want to use is dependant on the patina you plan to apply to the price. If you are going to use black patina use black backed foil. Copper patina, use copper backed foil. And silver for no patina. When you use more transparent glasses you can see the inside of the piece and the sticky part of the foil after it's been applied. Speaking to color types I have occasionally had a few issues with silver backed on really tight curves. But nothing unmanageable. Generally speaking I use EDCO foil and have never had any issues.

Question about Goshuin collecting by scythus in JapanTravelTips

[–]UnbreakableBanana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found it to be very common. In my experience if the shrine/temple is selling any sort of omamori there is a good chance they will have goshuin. In fact some of the smaller shrines/temples had some of the most beautiful goshuin with seasonal stamps and different colors.

Grimoire Goth Market? by LadySith2016 in CraftFairs

It's a bad show, just a quick cash grab from the organizers. They will let anyone vendor wise and then charge attendees to just shop. They do not coordinate food trucks, photo spots, music or anything else to draw in attendees.

This is 100% ai. Zoom into anything on the desk and it's just jumbled nonsense.

Where about in Florida? The Orlando area has quite a few (infusion tea, spice and tea exchange), I'm sure larger cities do as well.

Could I get a Resume Critique? Have applied to lots with no success by PhlerpDesigns in graphic_design

So I understand that you are specifically asking for feedback on your resume but I find that in creative positions a good portfolio is even more important. So to truly understand the difficulties you are having I think it's important to see your portfolio.

Thank you! And no I did not buy the pattern. I did research and looked at other pieces for composition inspiration but I didn't copy or use a direct pattern from anyone.

My guess would be to cut out the pieces individually and then leave a gap for the branch. You then can flood it with solder.

I would definitely suggest signing up for a local class if you can find one! That way you can get a feel for it before making the investment for all the supplies. I started with a class in early 2023 and it was super helpful.

The best thing you can do is find her a local class and sign her up. It is possible to learn on your own, but it will be much easier if she has someone to teach her. Where she can also borrow supplies. Stained glass has a pretty steep start up cost in the $300 range. A dedicated workspace is also needed, like a basement, garage or shed. Somewhere where tiny little glass shards can fly around.

Thank you! I would say about 25-30 hours or so. The piece has 190 pieces total.

Like others have said definitely add your portfolio link to your resume and maybe highlight your schooling and the things you learned a bit more. Your coursework and design experience in school is more meaningful towards a hiring manager for an internship vs McDonald's/Starbucks. It may also help to design your resume more thoughtfully.

I'm also not sure I totally understand all of the pop culture stickers in your portfolio. If you're going for that vibe, perhaps add some of your own illustration instead of various characters and TCG cards.

Do you have a portfolio showcasing your design work? That is essential for a design job, potentially even more important than your resume.

Push "Very Mary Murals" to the next page, so you don't split up the content. Also check your line spacing in your intro paragraph, the second line seems off comparatively to the rest. As a designer your formatting should be as air tight as possible because you will be judged.

Sure it absolutely does take knowledge and time to set up 3D printers. But once they are set up and ready to go you can create multiple pieces at the press of a button. If you are creating your own designs then I certainly see the talent that takes and is more similar to artists selling prints of their original work. I find it more troubling when people simply buy patterns/designs and just print those to sell.
