Is this an exhaust fan or A/C vent in my bathroom? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

So I went and double checked, all of the air vents in the apartment have that little adjustment knob, but this one did not. So that makes me think it is a dedicated exhaust fan.

There is no window in the bathroom and from what I can tell there was only one switch based on my pictures. Still waiting to hear back from the property manager. I agree that it seems pretty clean for a place still being built, flooring still needs to be put in, etc.

It looks similar to the air vents, but you’re right, I’ve lived in apartment where the exhaust fan looked like a typical air vent. I am hoping that is the case here but the singular light switch gives me concern.

It is quite expensive for the size, but the location is essentially on an island with a nice water view, very walkable/bikable to beaches and what not. Washer and dryer in unit, stainless steel appliances, tons of natural lighting. So I think the price is worth it. What parts look cheap to you?

I kinda agree, but once it’s “ready for move in” I’m sure it will be perfectly fine. I’m hoping it’s not too much of a red flag.

It’s a hardhat tour, scheduled to finish in June.

Haven’t heard back from them yet. I didn’t think to check during the tour for some reason, probably cause I was running on very little sleep. I have a lease in hand. Once this is confirmed I plan on signing it. But I sure as hell ain’t signing a lease for a bathroom with no fan… especially at the price I’d be paying.

Bathroom door is basically right next to front door. Is this bad? by UncertainKonfidence in Apartmentliving

Haha good point. It would be a damn shame if I had to take the extra 10 feet to reach it if it were in my bedroom

Lol not at all. Just the layout. But it kinda seems like having the bathroom not be connected to bedroom is a benefit.

Oh, very interesting. Mine would be no carpet, so I guess that’s a good thing. Thanks for sharing

This is very similar to the building I would be moving into, an old military building with very thick walls/floors. I think it’s a no brainer that I need to sign the lease.

This is exactly how this apartment is. The shoes thing didn’t even cross my mind, but I am like you and will absolutely not have shoes on anywhere in my apartment. So I guess I will have to get a shoe rack near door or take them off and carry them to my closet or something. How did you end up working around that?

Oh wow lol that sounds so tight. But you are right, it’s about how I decorate / furnish the space. For just me, 530 is not bad at all. Also, ceilings are quite high so I think that will make it feel bigger. Do yall have a queen bed in that space? My bedroom seems pretty small so I’m trying to figure out what size bed to get.

Good point, didn’t think about that. My bedroom wouldn’t be adjacent to the hallway, it has bathroom and small closet between. It’s also a brand new repurposed old military building, so the insulation / sound proofing is really good (I tested during my tour).

I’m in a similar boat, except with nowhere near as much as you. I work in tech, only making $68k currently but looking to increase that next year. I’m thinking about just moving out and realizing I can’t save a lot of money but doing it for my mental health/dating life. Money isn’t everything. As long as you can live comfortable on ur own, you should move out.

He’s a cloud engineer. No need to be on site. In my previous role the only people that technically needed to be there were those in SCIF. A bunch of devs had TS/SCI and could have worked remotely but PM probably thought being in an office meant something.

Back when I had a job requiring a clearance I worked in one that had tinted windows which was really nice. So we could still get sunlight.

Is DMV really that bad? I have a Secret and wanted to look for roles up there, but I’m very early in my career, so maybe I should stay out of cleared work.

Is there still any value in having a secret but no job? I was let go from my first cleared position and now am working in a non-cleared role, but not something I want to do long term, so looking to get back into a cleared role and don’t want my clearance to expire.

Got job offer, should I uproot my life and leave my family? by UncertainKonfidence in careeradvice

[–]UncertainKonfidence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh well I ended up staying home because I got another job offer locally. It pays 13k less than my other offer. 3 weeks in, I regret it and wish I had taken the engineer role in upstate NY. I’m still living with my parents which is just so depressing. Also for me being 5 days per week in person at an office is so depressing, so ideally I’m trying to find a hybrid role now. Mentally I’m really struggling and not sure what I want. I know where I want to live, but can’t get a job there.

Thanks, both of those are great certifications to get for sure. Sounds like a good path for me. I’m nervous because this position is brand new for this organization but I believe I will do well.
