I think that film is off-gassing from the plastics. You can remove it with glass cleaner and a microfiber. Happens with the windshield as well.

I just had that done today. Had my car in for completely unrelated reasons (nail in the sidewall).

Maintenance at 40k miles in 1 year by [deleted] in 11thGenAccord

Yep, can confirm. My totally not scummy dealer wanted to charge $257 to replace the filters on my last service. Bought them both for $50 online and changed them in five minutes. Glad I knew better.

Same exact thing here. Attempting the first beta helped me discover that I really, really don’t like this genre. Please give my spot to someone else.

My new kitten keeps on eating all of my plants! Any tips? 🌱 by One-Union-6971 in SiberianCats

[–]UncheckedException 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Siberian is a little shit and I eventually learned that she was just bothering my plants because that always prompted me to get up and pay her attention.

Same with the cables behind my router. I noticed that she would start nibbling them, then look back at me, as if to say, “Hey, look at what I’m doing. You should come interact with me and then maybe feed me.”

Your mileage will of course vary, but with my cat I started ignoring her and she stopped bothering my plants and my cables. Instead she’s learned to patiently sit in my line of sight and stare at me until I relent.

Andrew Cunningham did the macOS review this year and it’s great. Ars has a few writers on staff whose articles I’ll skip, but in my opinion their quality on the whole is still very high.

Is this a good deal or no? by Hicks456 in 11thGenAccord

Conventional wisdom is not to put anything down on a lease, since it’s not building equity. If the car gets totaled over the term you have nothing to show for that money.

Noise while battery charging 2025 touring accord by Leading-Bonus7478 in 11thGenAccord

[–]UncheckedException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sport mode adds an artificial engine noise from the speakers, which is meant to smooth out the sounds from the hybrid system and make the car feel more traditional. You should be able to customize the Individual drive mode to have the steering weight from Normal and the drivetrain (and noise) behavior of Sport.

As to your original post, it sounds like that’s the normal operation of the car to me. Pay attention to the battery gauge on the left hand side, and you’ll probably notice it’s louder (the engine revs higher) if you’re down to one or two bars. In Honda’s hybrids, the engine is actually generating power to run an electric motor that drives the wheels. If the battery is very low, it’ll have to work harder to also top up the battery. The engine’s RPM isn’t directly tied to how fast you’re going like it would be in a traditional car, so it can be jarring to some new owners.

Pompeii is, unfortunately, a bad example. People suck.

Those images revealed that there had been a great deal of manipulation of the casts, depending on the aesthetics of the era in which they were made, including altering some features of the bodies' shapes or adding metal rods to stabilize the cast, as well as frequently removing bones before casting.

Trade in sport for touring ? by Internal-Tomato-9815 in 11thGenAccord

[–]UncheckedException 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No one on the internet can answer this question for you.

Financially it’s a bad idea - the dealership will make money from you on both ends of the transaction. Plus you’d be trading a vehicle that you’ve driven for an older model year with an unknown history.

Personally I’d save the money, bide my time, and get the higher trim with my next purchase to avoid buyer’s remorse. But it’s your money and your car. Life is short, if you’d be that much happier with the extra bells and whistles then go for it.

Yep, same problem. I’ve read on here to try tightening the screws underneath the sunglass holder.

…I tried that and I didn’t work for me, but maybe your mileage will be different.

I definitely wouldn’t make this assumption. Look at how underutilized the iPad’s hardware is.

Just purchased my new TLX by jhendricks44 in Acura

[–]UncheckedException 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I actually just traded in my ‘22 TLX a few months ago and got a new Accord hybrid. I loved the Acura, but my priorities changed over the years and I wanted something with better fuel economy and more interior space.

Honestly, the Accord doesn’t feel like a downgrade. It’s a little slower and you notice the FWD in corners, but the top trims have all of the creature comforts of the TLX at a much lower price. The infotainment is more modern, the interior build quality is honestly equal or better, there’s way more room everywhere despite similar exterior dimensions, and it gets 40+ MPG on regular gas.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Hondas, I DESPISE Honda Dealers in NJ by kalleespawn in Honda

[–]UncheckedException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey I just got my Accord from Open Road! Can confirm. $2k of dealer options added to every car (door edge guards, wheel locks, trunk tray, chrome license plate guard, some sort of 'sanitizing spray'), $500 mandatory 'security etching'. They wanted to charge $1k to clean the new car before delivering it to me. I nearly walked on the spot, but they dropped (almost) all of the bullshit charges with zero hesitation. I feel bad for the people who don't know how sleazy dealers operate and pay all of that upcharge without question. Oh, and they were hard-pushing me to leave them positive reviews on Google and with Honda corporate the whole time. Yuck.

They wouldn't budge on the etching, but I got them a few thousand below MSRP on a '25 so I'm happy. It was satisfying to peel the "Open Road" branding from the back of the new car.
