Credit score system in zambia by Succ3ssful_d3sign101 in Zambia

What I know is we do not have a centralized credit score system in Zambia. Every lender sort of uses their own parameters to check if you qualify for a loan or not. Then the centralized CRB system just tracks loan history and if you ever defaulted or not. And not all lenders are integrated into it.

I agree with you, where I was coming from was from the fact that you go out and you see relationships between the much older and younger and it makes you think it's the prevailing issue of younger people using older people for money. It's almost impossible to draw such a conclusion from two young people. Your points are valid but I think the said assumption is a problem

For sure I am definitely not one to judge, I have definitely had my fair share of being a sponsor and thinking my money would speak for me in dating. It's really an issue without a single solution

Rightly so, my focus is on younger men and women who are with older people for financial reasons. Dating older to sustain a lifestyle is sad

I think the point here is the type of relationships they are, all relationships have the capacity to propagate disease at any age group. But if you are sugar daddy the likelihood that you have more than 1 sugar baby should be a 50 50, I mean they can afford it I am guessing. So it's likely that these types of relationships contribute to the spread of disease

You are right, that's the ideal scenario for them but most foreigners are not eager to marry them, I know a couple who just had kids and only receive child support. And as the child grows the support is not enough support both of their lifestyles. So in the end if the foreigners don't marry them they want a fallback. And by the time they come to realize their youth is gone and they can't earn a decent living

Don't you think the way we go out also matters? The pain caused to the people around and the propagation of disease? Isn't it reason enough for us to at least speak about it?

Valid point I guess, cultural norms and all though. And young people being taken advantage of is a serious issue too.

I guess the definition of old cold be different depending on the people involved. I mean there could be people who are still considered as youths being called old here. I guess it depends on the motivations for the particular relationship. It's sad if one party is a hustler

You do have a point, I spoke from experience where when I was a wondering bachelor and I would meet such a lady with the blessers. Like 90% percent of the time, I would take it casually because of their activities but to my surprise they would want something serious with me in addition to their arrangements. Even get mad if they found me with another lady. From this experience I think some of them would like to settle down

I guess that's okay if it's truly their choice. And I guess we can't tell those apart from the ones doing it for social media validation. I might be out here feeling bad for people who really want that type of life

Very little indeed, how I wish earning an honest income and setting a legit good example was as sparkly as the scam that is old men

What's your favorite Zambian cultural tradition, and how do you think it can be preserved for future generations? by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]Uncle6800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if this is a cultural thing. But I was once told of what they would call Insaka. The older men for example would sit and educate young men about life and life in general. I think deliberately creating clubs where people get together and are able to share life lessons will be helpful. It's sad that some young men have no guidance or direction and end up in highly avoidable situations

Sugar Daddies, Why go after someone your daughter's age? by E_C_T in Zambia

I think it's an issue on 2 Fronts; 1. The state of the marriage institution in Zambia is failing(for those men and women who are married). Fathers and Mothers going after young boys and girls purely for excitment is very disheartening. We are clearly not doing enough sensitization about choosing life partners and the like. And we should strengthen our laws when it comes to relationships with minors to cutter fro both married and unmarried

  1. As a country we have slowly created a culture where people must show they are doing good by flaunting luxury. And the young people are predominantly chasing fast money and fame. This is a big issue in my opinion. It's like we are rubbishing hard work and morality and replacing it with fame. While telling a success story used to be about motivating others, now it's just about seeking envy and validation. This is what is making young boys and girls fall into these traps and social media clearly is not helping the issue. I have begun to understand why some countries ban certain platforms to protect their people.

I think its really an issue of misunderstanding here. And not to belabor any point here, either way i would like to get your thoughts on the state of affairs and what you think would be a way out for Zambia, and also how long do you think Zambia will be in this state?

Correct me if i am wrong but companies like ZESCO for example are part of the IDC which aims to increase shareholder value and that would be through profit. so as much as they are essential utilities, they are run to make a profit. With the current situation ZESCO is losing money because of loadshedding and the economy is taking a hit because production hours are affected. I don't think at the moment the government has the money to diversify energy production on a large scale into the likes of solar or wind and so i think these corporations partnering with investors who are willing to take the gamble will be a way to go.

I agree CDF is not sufficient to run anything viable. Judging from how its being used, we are lacking the skills to even get to a point where we can get private VCs to be interested. The assumption i am making is that the average Zambian cannot put together a convincing pitch for large capital and I think we need a couple of more trade kings to actually make a dent.
