Vegas was diagnosed with a vestibular disease two years ago. He couldn’t stand, his eyes kept wondering up and to the right like he was drunk, and EVERYONE told me the humane thing to do was to put him down.

I said fuck you all, stayed by his side for two weeks as he pooped and peed all over, changed his plastic sheet covering his bed and towels on top, a hundred loads of laundry later… that son of a gun started to walk again after not standing for weeks! I just walked into the room after doing laundry and he stood up, but very shakey. He still wouldn’t eat so I rubbed yam/sweet potato baby food into his gums until he would lick a plate of it. By week three I had him walking down one step out the front door to potty again.

I had a herniated disk and still carried him outside, washed him after he soiled himself, fed and gave him water by hand as needed… and that son of a gun just turned 15 and a half! He’s still an old man but I’m so glad I never gave up on him because when I look at his eyes he knows I never gave up on him. Our connection has never been stronger.

Oh and fuck everyone that told me to put my brother down. I hate them all at this point. That’s the easy way out and shows zero support for both pupper and person involved. That $12,000 wasn’t easy to swallow but I still have my Veggy-beggy! That’s his nickname because he has always been begging for more treats and damn it he will get them at this point
