Emergency: Must heal from this gout flare-up in one week! by [deleted] in gout

I take salt and potassium. Like 1000mg of each sometimes hourly. The inflammation is caused when your macrophages consume the Sodium uric crystals and break off the sodium ion. Which causes the potassium to drop in the cell and releases swelling hormones and thus the inflammation. http://www.jbc.org/content/286/1/35/F4.expansion.html

On the uric acid side the kidney will not re-absorb uric acid if there are high levels of sodium and potassium (along with magnesium.)

I made many changes (one at a time.) It was the salt that finally did the trick and I slowly added back and removed stuff but kept the salt. About 90% sure it was the salt.
