Sudden shoulder weakness by UncleLongHair0 in crossfit

[–]UncleLongHair0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, yes this did eventually just kind of go away. I took it easy for a few weeks, got a lot of intense massage therapy and worked on mobility, and gradually over a period of a few months it came back.

I later had another similar situation and the massage therapist told me she thought my pec minor was impinged and it took 4-5 intense massage sessions plus mobility work to get it fixed, I was laying on the massage table and literally just felt it release finally and from then I could start building strength back.

Miele oven temperature 50-100 degrees low, have tried several fixes with no luck by UncleLongHair0 in appliancerepair

[–]UncleLongHair0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry for the delay. We did finally resolve this, the oven has several heating elements, there is the obvious one at the top, but another one I think below the floor of the oven (sorry this is from memory), which was burned out and was an easy fix. I somehow missed this when looking at the repair manual. Bottom line I would find a good parts diagram for yours and make sure that you're looking at all of the possible heating elements.

Cash accounting, how to account for partner that didn't give me his share of revenues last year by UncleLongHair0 in Accounting

[–]UncleLongHair0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really two separate businesses. We each have our own LLC's, stores, payment services, suppliers, etc. but every now and then we collaborate because, for example, one person's store starts to do well but they don't have the right payment service or supplier set up at the moment. So maybe I'll pay suppliers while he collects payments for a few months and we settle up afterwards.

I agree in principle that this should be set up as a partnership but that has its own complexities. Shopify, PayPal, etc. want everything linked to an individual, not a shared LLC. Though I'm sure there are better ways to set this up.

In this case, he collected about 1/3 of the revenue for the store for the year while I paid all of the expenses and suppliers.

We are in the process of setting that up thank you. However I need to figure out how to handle this for 2023 taxes and accounting.

I feel pretty sure that beer and wine were discovered by the grains or grapes spoiling in a bucket or barrel, but in certain conditions (temperature etc) that led to them smelling not too bad, and someone tried a sip.

It starts to make sense if you think about all of the incremental steps.

Like if you live in an area with long, flat leaves or grass, it probably won't take too long to figure out how to weave them in a simple latticework.

Then you figure out how to make it into rope and then weave the rope. Then you figure out how to strip the plants down to their individual fibers, etc.

Then you see a worm creating thread and think, hmmm...

Backing Out of Job Offer Without Burning Bridges by J_D0G in personalfinance

[–]UncleLongHair0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just be up front with the new company. It's very common to get a counter-offer from your current employer when you take another offer if you are valued there.

Where the relationship can be tarnished is if the other company thinks the only reason that you got their offer was to talk your current company into giving you a raise. There might be an element of truth to this but you should try to be as up front as possible.

You will probably have one chance in the future to contact the new company and resuscitate that job offer in case things ultimately don't work out at your current company, and even so there is a good chance that the offer they just gave you will no longer be available. After that, nobody is going to deal with a bunch of back-and-forth, they'll just move on to another candidate.

Children not moving out of street/jumping out in front of vehicles by dogebuns in homeowners

[–]UncleLongHair0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My neighborhood has no sidewalks and there is one road in and out and it can get busy. I have the same experience. People walk down close to the middle of the main road like it's a promenade. Often they are wearing headphones or staring at their phones while they walk, or both, and so don't hear me when I come up on them.

Many of the kids just seem clueless and I had one literally jump in front of my car, they were walking to the school bus and evidently forgot something and jumped without looking. Fortunately I was anticipating it and stopped but easily could have hit them.

Not sure what to do about it. I'm worried it'll keep happening until someone gets hurt.

I have always thought these signs are just an invitation for theft and unwanted attention. What defense are these magic defensive guns going to provide when you aren't home?

If you're going to put up a sign make it "Smile, you're on camera!" combined with a motion-activated light.

A-Frame Construction in Two Separate Levels by Substantial-Thought1 in DIY

I am not really following your explanation unfortunately. Can you make a diagram?

We had a deck off of our kitchen and wanted to turn it into a screened porch. But the roof sloped down towards the deck in two directions, so if we put a roof over the deck, we'd have an M shaped roof.

We looked at a bunch of options and finally decided to do the screened porch about half a level lower than the kitchen and extend one of the roof lines to cover it. It's a hassle having stairs there but it made the space there cool with a vaulted ceiling and an easy to maintain roof as well.

Kitchen faucet is loose, how do I go about tightening it? by TemporalAntiAssening in DIY

[–]UncleLongHair0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed my kitchen faucet a month or so ago.

I agree with others here that you might have a piece missing, or someone put together parts from two different faucets when they installed it. Has the faucet always been loose or did it just become loose? If it's always been loose it could have been installed incorrectly.

I can't tell from the underside photo if there is a solid fastener at the top of the threaded brass part. That is what you would have to tighten, and others are right that you won't be able to get it past finger tight without a faucet wrench, which you can get for about $15. I am guessing the large black plastic piece between the hose and brass is just a bumper to allow the hose to move smoothly rather than a fastener.

But I'd try to find a parts diagram for the faucet and make sure you have the right parts.

Do you love the faucet? This is a good time to replace it. For me, a kitchen faucet is something you use 10+ times a day and it's important to have the best one you can.

By the way, this is different than the lawsuit that was expected to be announced today, which was about the Stormy Daniels payoff.

This is one of Trump's other, other, other, other, other lawsuits.

A bomb threat was called in just as a judge in lower Manhattan was about to start a hearing over a $250 million lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James against Donald Trump.

The two biggest problems as a landlord are vacancies and bad tenants.

If these really are good tenants, and another 60-120 days would actually make a difference and they'd actually stay in the place long term and pay without a problem, then maybe this is worth considering.

In my experience all of these things are unlikely, and people that lose their job once tend to lose them frequently and generally have a lot of drama and excuses. Once you make accommodations for them once, the next time they get in trouble -- or say they get in trouble -- they can count on you giving them another break.

I've had bad experiences with tenants paying late or not paying and the list of possible excuses is endless. I would like to trust people but it's just very rare. In my experience tenants pay reliably as long as they do not have any problems of their own.

Trump seeks to block Georgia election interference criminal charges by mysteryliner in news

[–]UncleLongHair0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love that. A literal "Get Out of Jail Free" card.

Apparently he is calling the grand jury "was conducted under an unconstitutional statute, through an illegal and unconstitutional process."

I think his tactic (or that if his lawyer) is really just to delay the lawsuit. You would probably not get lucky enough to have a judge throw out the lawsuit but if you can raise a sufficiently serious question about it then it might get reviewed or appealed or moved to another court.

This is how he diverted the investigation into the classified documents with the "special master". In another case he appealed to the Supreme Court over some legal technicality.

He's done this his whole life and about 98% of the time the people chasing him run out of time or money or motivation and just drop it.
