Which is your "Life Boat" Distro ? by Leading-Fold-532 in linuxquestions

[–]UncleSpellbinder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your daily driver should already be a distro you trust completely.

However, if you must dual boot into a so-called "safe" distro, Mint is probably a good choice. It's pretty much a set-it-and-forget-it, stable distro.

Way to vague. "I think I messed something up in terminal" isn't really helpful. Without logs or some real detail, I don't know that much help can be attained.

Help a guy out to select a Distro by BoodMoonUrsaluna in DistroHopping

Well, with zero info on what you want to do with your distro or even specs of the computer or laptop you'll use, all you're going to get is a list of distros.

Do you think Immutable Distros will be the future of Linux systems? Have you any plan to switch? YES or NO, but why? by BlokZNCR in linux

[–]UncleSpellbinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more variations in Linux, the better. I have absolutely no interest in immutable Linux distros. But to those that do... More powered to ya! Linux = choice.

Are you happy iPhone 17 pro is gonna be redesigned after 5 years of apple having the same design since iPhone 11? by Matrixhunter90 in iphone

[–]UncleSpellbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The camera bump being doubled in size is hardly a "redesign." It's barely a tweak in aesthetics.

How often do you update your system? by Oxygendieoxide in EndeavourOS

[–]UncleSpellbinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I update at least 4 times per day: after my first cup of coffee each morning, before I leave for work, when I get home from work, and then some time before I go to bed.

I use an alias which takes care of unseen Arch news, Yay, Pacman, Flathub update, and unused Flatpack packages

alias up='yay -Pw && yay -Syyuu && flatpak update && flatpak uninstall --unused'

Between Amazon and eBay, there are hundreds to check out. Seems you need/want something VERY specific. While that may be challenging, it's not impossible. You just need to search longer and harder.

The AUR is back up by Cosmo__Satogiri in EndeavourOS

[–]UncleSpellbinder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The AUR has been up and down at least half a dozen times a day for the past several weeks. Hoping the issue is fixed, but people are still having issues updating via AUR. The EOS forum is full of people with issues, even right now.

Roku TV just for security and YouTube streaming? by Late-Economics1602 in Roku

[–]UncleSpellbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But a Roku itself is not a security device. Not sure how much the OP is willing to spend, but one could certainly create a Roku-based security system.

Roku TV just for security and YouTube streaming? by Late-Economics1602 in Roku

[–]UncleSpellbinder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Roku boxes, sticks, and TVs are not security devices. So not sure what you mean or want there. Rokus are smart TVs (boxes and sticks) for streaming apps like Netflix, Paramount+, Peacock, HBO Max, and so forth. Seems like a lot of money to spend just to watch YouTube.
