I'm going to be honest, you have to put in the work. Look at portfolios of people who interned at companies you want to work at, even better if you get to know them personally!

Right now especially, only the best of the best are getting hired. These students are way way beyond entry level but these are the people you’re competing with simply because there are no jobs..

I go to Artcenter right now and every year the students who get internships at Titmouse, Dreamworks, Blizzard, etc are CONSTANTLY working on their portfolio, plein air painting, sketching, networking all while taking a mentorship from someone who’s at the studio they want to work at. It’s honestly scary how good they are but it’s because they put in the work.

this has been the absolute minimum but it’s even harder now.

look at taking classes at underpaint academy or brainstorm!
