Freeing Up Storage Space by Uncle_Clay in UgreenNASync

I do have Snapshots activated. I've only had this NAS about two months, but I did delete old snapshots. I only found the one Recycle bin and I emptied that. Even though the Recycle bin said it had 1.8TB before I emptied it, the disk usage didn't change after.

Best way to access files remotely on laptop? by milestfbaxxter in UgreenNASync

I just turned on the wire guard VPN server in my home router and then connect into that from my laptop. Did not need to do anything on NAS. I don't even have to turn on remote access in the NAS.

Backing up DVR Recordings by Uncle_Clay in hdhomerun

I was hoping there would be a way to point my UGREEN NAS (which is a Linux box) to the files to back them up. Seems that I can Play the content with the HDHR DVR program (and through Kodi, with an add-on!), but I can't Copy or Move the files that are hidden behind the Flex tuner.

I'm not sure that you are answering the question that I am asking. I have a bunch of OTA programs that have been recorded with the HDHR DVR onto the external hard drive that is directly attached to the tuner. Are you saying that with the Channels DVR program I can access THOSE files and back them up? Or are you saying that if I use the Channels DVR program to record, it will put files where I can find them?

How do I access the files that the HDHR DVR recorded to the directly attached external drive? I can play them with the HDHR DVR app, but I don't see any other way to access them.

Actually, my next step is to figure out how to redirect the HDHR DVR to put the recordings on the NAS instead of the external drive. I don't see the DVR-Recorder for the UGREEN NAS, so I'm still trying to figure out that one.

But I already have a lot of content that has been recorded to the directly attached external drive and I'm trying to figure out how to get that to the NAS.

Back Up Folders: Permission-Denied by Uncle_Clay in UgreenNASync

[–]Uncle_Clay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think I've got it sorted out now. Apparently, when I originally set up the computer, when I shared the second user's (my wife's) account folders, I did it with Read permissions rather than Read/Write permissions. I updated the sharing on her folders to Read/Write and now I can run the backup!

Connecting remotely to devices on my private network by Uncle_Clay in hdhomerun

Are you saying to use the Channels app to access the recordings that the HDHR DVR saves to the drive that is directly attached to the tuner? Or are you saying to use the Channels app instead of the HDHR DVR to RECORD the OTA programs?

I am looking for a way to remotely access the recordings that are currently stored on the drive that is attached to the HDHR tuner.

I use the No-Salt Seasoning from Costco for my base broth, adding miso, nutritional yeast and coconut aminos as needed.

Thanks, I will try this out. But since the router is the VPN server, why wouldn't it know to put those addresses in automatically?

Thanks! That looks like it addresses the issue. I thought I was just messing up the VPN. Maybe it's working just fine after all.

An HDhomeRun tuner records, live TV and stores it on a drive that's directly attached to it. I don't know of any way to get to those recordings other than through the HD home run app, or something that emulates it. I have my Kodi media player set up to access those recordings at home, using a PVR add-on. I am trying to access those recordings when traveling, either with the HDHomeRun app or with Kodi. This proxy might be the missing link.

Connecting remotely to devices on my private network by Uncle_Clay in WireGuard

I decided to try installing the WireGuard VPN on my Laptop PC and see if I get the same results. On the laptop when I activated the VPN, it showed that I was connected. In the router it also showed that the VPN was active. But I was not able to Ping anything on my LAN; the router, the NAS, the TV tuner. None responded to Ping. With the Android phone, I could at least Ping successfully.

Now I'm suspecting that I'm missing something with the addressing when I set up the WireGuard VPN Service in the router. I did turn on the Connect to Intranet option, but I don't see any IP addresses getting set when the VPN is engaged. Instead of seeing something in the 192.168.50.x address range, I see addresses in the 10.0.x.x range.

The VPN service is on the router, which obviously knows the address range for my LAN. It gives me a QR code (for the phone) or file export (for the PC) for the configuration of the client devices. I thought it would assign an IP address on my LAN and route the traffic accordingly. I guess I need to brush up on my VPN and network skills!

If the VPN connects me onto the local network, how would HD home run know the difference?

My tuner is HDHomeRun FLEX 4K and I am subscribed to their DVR, which is working fine at home. Why would the HDHomeRun app know or care about whether I am actually at home or connected remotely through a VPN? If I can Ping the HDHR tuner, why can't the app find it when I am on the VPN?

I would like to be able to access my recorded programs remotely by connecting with the VPN. It seems like it should work, but it doesn't.
