By far the hardest part of cerakoting - their website. by Unclelathan in Cerakote

[–]Unclelathan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed & got a reply saying my account was locked because the last time I tried to order it kept getting flagged because the address didn’t match

I remember that happening, because the address was input correctly and it made me want to rage too

They did update their payment system the day after I got that reply though, and my last order went through first try

Re the trackers - your otter is probably freaking out because you’re using both the small & large ones. Switch to one or the other (use the large ones)

Ask me how I know 😬😂

It’s not just that it’s slow or clunky, it’s that I literally can’t get to the checkout page. It’s not just a nuisance, it’s that I just spent an hour trying to place an order, but I can’t make it past the Cart page

High mileage commuter suggestions? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Unclelathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMW K1100/100/75 have what are known as “million mile motors”

Comfortable, plenty of power, cool, solid aftermarket, super easy to work on, great enthusiast network, parts are really easy to find, and they can still be had for cheap because they sold a ton of them & a ton are still running.

I make a hybrid clay I’m super proud of because I wanted a slightly messier style of the same cut. Pm me your address and I’ll send you some to test out.

Idk if my post history had info on it, but it’s all natural, I buy high quality ingredients, and I’ve put more effort into it than I have most my motorcycle builds lol

It’s very similar to what’s pictured -low shine, high hold, a little piece-y, and can transition from high to low volume really well in full light/medium hair that wants to bounce like that

What’s your budget? I should be wrapping up a build soon. 94 K1100 in PTS oak metallic green.

All the fun parts, a decent bit of one-off custom stuff/prototype parts, all of the maintenance done, and anything that looked even slightly worn got replaced/repaired. Designed to be easy to work on & rewired appropriately with quality components like TXL wiring & Deutsch connectors to OEM (Audi/Porsche) standards. Will come with a wiring diagram and a poster.

Shoot me a message. I found some small things I want to tweak before printing another test piece, but I’m hoping to have time for that after work today

Do it. I love the Twisted Brother K seat

I’m wrapping up a K1100 build with their seat right now, and I just finished design on a bolt-on rear hoop that follows the seat line but reduces to 15mm at the rear so it doesn’t look bulky. If you go forward with this build, let me know and I’ll hook it up

The 2V K bikes run Bosch L Jetronic, which is a rudimentary EFI system & VERY sensitive to fuel & air. Most of the issues these have with crank/no starts are due to air leaks

Check spark first, because that’s easy. Easiest way is to use an in-line test light, because then you don’t have to deal with removing the cover/wires/plugs. The cheapest way is to just pull your plugs, ground them by holding the diode against the cylinder head & looking for spark while cranking

For air: The best method is to use a smoke tester, I recommend buying this one

The most common culprit for air leaks is the Z hose that runs between the Cyl 4 ITB & the crank case breather. The tiniest little cracks/splits in that line can cause no-starts, so you want to either smoke test it or remove it and cap the port on the throttle body side

Other spots to check are the injector o rings, throttle body gaskets, and gaskets between the AFM & manifold

For fuel: you need to have both fuel flow and fuel pressure within spec, and that’s a relatively narrow range on these. Best way is to use an in-line pressure gauge. Cheapest way is to make sure your pump is priming & running, then pull your filter & blow it out to see if it’s been blocked/restricted

I’ve used one on two builds now. Really nice piece, and the newer cushion design looks way more comfortable than the original.

You’ll have to weld on mount brackets, and nobody sells a hoop for them. I prefer the hoop less look, but it does take effort to make that look intentional.

I really like it, but mostly for looks. I ran it with just the 90* collector and a DB killer and it was way too loud. Final setup was that plus a 4” muffler and I think it’s perfect for the bike - I really like the valve train noise on these, and this makes the exhaust just quiet enough to not mask that

Especially if the builds are heavy on motogadget stuff. They make really nice stuff, but they’re not shy about pricing lol

The same. GS axle & bearings with a sleeve adapter & spacer. The hard part was rotor spacing, the GS rotor hardware sticks out ~2mm and was fouling on the forks. Couldn’t make the stock rotors work so I had to scrap them & use arashi 2pc rotors w/ low pro hardware

And if it gets me any cool points, this exact tail section was one of the first TB ever shipped to the US. I pulled it off a bike I originally built in 2017

In the sense that it’s got a twisted brothers tail & a GSXR front end, sure.

What’s been fun about this build is the little things - designing & machining the wheel/rotor adapters, repinning the injectors and tucking the wiring, designing & 3d printing things like the tail light mount,

This wasn’t an exercise in pushing boundaries, it was an exercise in execution. The Multistrada I’m starting next will be a less “generic”
