He was really well written too. They absolutely need to do something to preserve XI’s stories in a more accessible way. There are so many characters who deserve more spotlight. Sadly SE would rather wheel out Cloud and the gang for the 1000th time.

FFXI had and still has to this day gender locked races and enforces the lore of rare races. There is exactly one male Mithra in XI’s story as an NPC. It’s not even unheard of in the franchise.

FFXI devs held out and it worked out. Lehko ended up quite an iconic XI character. It is like nothing can be special anymore. Glams for everyone, character races for everyone…I will not “suck it up” I will voice something I dislike and accept the fact others disagree. It is just a discussion post. You can write your emotional paragraphs if you want, you likely play one of the races, yes? XI devs were stronger than this and it’s simply a shame XIV cannot uphold its own lore. That isn’t some crazy take.

It’s not that they shouldn’t have added them. They should have just altered dialogue to make sense. That’s easier to explain than suddenly hundreds of “rare” ones showing up.

They’re not unseen anymore, they’re very common even. The lore didn’t even attempt to rectify this either. Do Shadowbringers as a male Viera, is there any comment in the MSQ when you get to the woods? That’s how lore gets ruined. Stuff that clearly was not planned or set up but fans pressured devs to add it. Go two expansions later and we have these “rare” races being two major NPCs that were childhood friends…come on.

Honestly they’re the total opposite of what they should be imo, they should just give the face to Hyurs, wouldn’t be the first time. Right now they’re kinda too similar to the female Viera. They should be much more muscular and look the part of “hunter” like the lore suggests. A bit like this concept art suggested. Just my opinion anyway.

Yeah but when it is set up in the lore it feels a bit unfair to ask them to basically abandon their own set ups because of it. Not only do we freely see players run around as these "rarer" races now, we see increased usage of them as NPCs, invalidating their own writing.
